This is the time if it will help to:
1. Acknowledge and Accept Your Feelings:
• It's normal to feel fear, anxiety, or even numbness during times of adversity. Don't try to suppress these feelings but rather acknowledge them as a natural response to a difficult situation.
• Allow yourself to experience these emotions without judgment. Journaling or talking about your feelings can be helpful.
2. Limit Exposure to Media:
• Constant news updates and social media consumption can exacerbate anxiety and distress. Set boundaries on how much time you spend consuming news, particularly before bed.
• Mute triggering content and avoid social media if it is negatively impacting your mental state.
3. Prioritize Physical and Mental Wellbeing:
• Maintain a Routine:
A consistent routine can provide a sense of stability during chaotic times. Try to stick to your usual sleep schedule, mealtimes, and activities as much as possible.
• Engage in Calming Activities:
Practice relaxation techniques like deep breathing exercises, praying etc. Gentle physical activity like walking can also help release tension.
• Stay Connected:
Talk to trusted friends, family, or support groups. Sharing your feelings can help you feel less isolated and realize others may be experiencing similar emotions.
• Seek Professional Help:
If you are struggling to cope with anxiety or other mental health challenges, consider reaching out to a psychologist or other mental health professional.
4. Focus on What You Can Control:
• Self-Care:
Make time for activities that bring you peace and help you relax, such as hobbies, spending time in nature, or listening to music.
• Kindness and Compassion:
Practicing kindness towards yourself and others can be a powerful way to cope with stress and build resilience.
• Grounding Techniques:
Use techniques like deep breathing, focusing on your senses, or engaging in your favourite activity to help ground yourself in the present moment when feeling overwhelmed.
5. Remember that it's Okay not to be Okay and it is ok to ask for help, asking for help is not a sign of weakness but it a smart, brave move!
We wish you all peace, health, safety and send you our love.
