Welcome to the sister page to 'Need2Talk2Someone Counselling Services'.
This page is specifically aimed at promoting the 'children & families' side of the Counselling Service.
As founder of KidsNeed2Talk2, I am privileged to have worked with Children & families in various roles since the late 80βs. I have been a Nursery Nurse, a full-time Nanny, a Senior Family Support worker in Child Protection Services, a Counselor in Schools and Primary Care Mental Health, I continue to work with Adopt Abroad as a Home Study Assessor and co-founded the charity βMaypole Womenβ supporting Women and children after Separation and Divorce.
I became a counsellor because I believed that few people actually listened to children and young people. I experienced the gap in provision myself as a young person and later became determined to fill it. I want young people to know that there is someone out there βwho gets itβ and can listen and support them through the tough times, I want to prove that βit is better out than inβ! You donβt have to store up all of those emotions.
Talking to someone helps! This is evidenced by the feedback and the emails that I receive from the children I counselled 8 years or more ago asking me for βa top-upβ session. Itβs such a pleasure to know that they valued the counselling and took the time to find me again as young adults.
Since 2008 my Counseling work has focused on Social- Emotional mental health & wellbeing and have worked with Children & families all over the world. I have counselled in the most unexpected of places such as on long-haul flights, hotel bathrooms and once, in South Africa after talking down a violent man I counselled in the corner of a winding corridor! Planned sessions have taken place from the UK, to Thailand Malasia Shanghai Bejing Singapore Egypt and Australia to name but a few.
As well as a 'one to one' counselling, I work with families to support them as they transition through life 'where ever they are'*. As a parent training facilitator, I deliver workshops and parent programs such as Parenting With 'Love & Logic', 'STEP', (Systematic Effective Parenting) and a Merriden Family Trained Counsellor.
In addition, I support professional development events in schools colleges universities and workshops in the local community.
Through this page I aim to highlight current issues impacting on children and families and to share current psychological guided self-help.
To give you some insight and appreciation of therapeutic relationships encountered, I may share visual examples of my work and on location CPD pictures.
Note, pictures are taken at the end of a session so not to interrupt the βflowβ of the session. To protect confidentiality client faces are NEVER shown. Permission has been sought from workshop participants beforehand and understand that the images will be shared on social media.
