The majestic black bee endemic to Reunion Island, which we take particular care to preserve in its natural environment.
A bee with sometimes golden/silver reflections when exposed to the sun.
A very special bee because it is the only one among the 3 species of honey bees present on the island to be attracted by the foraging of rare endemic plant and shrub species such as the Red Tan (Weinmannia tinctoria), or the White Corsican (homalium paniculatum), as well as other plants such as the yellow flower (hypericum lanceolatum), the bark change endemic medicinal plant (Aphloia theiformis) recognized for its many health virtues.
This attraction to endemic flower species remains a mystery, it is possible that genetics play a vital role in this selection of choices.
It harvests and produces rare endemic honeys in very limited quantities, of exceptional quality, including green honey, considered among the best honey in the world.
