A 27-year-old woman developed a life-threatening reaction after taking Ibuprofen, a common pain killer.
What started as flu-like symptoms quickly progressed into widespread blistering and skin detachment.
Doctors diagnosed Toxic epidermal necrolysis, a condition where the immune system attacks the skin, causing it to peel away - similar to severe burns.
This exposes the body to infections, fluid loss, and organ complications.
She was placed in a medically induced coma and treated in intensive care.
Despite losing about 95% of her skin, she survived.
Doctors put her in a medically induced coma and treated her in intensive care; she pulled through despite the high mortality rate of this condition. It's a powerful reminder that even common painkillers can trigger life-threatening reactions in rare cases."

Back in July 2025, we shared the news that EURneffyยฎ had been approved in the UK and we promised to keep you updated. Today, weโ€™re pleased to let you know that EURneffyยฎ has arrived in the UK. Itโ€™s available on private prescription, and NHS access is expected to follow as itโ€™s introduced across allergy services.

For families living with severe food allergies, this is welcome news. EURneffyยฎ is a needle-free nasal spray, making it a good addition or alternative for people with food allergies, giving families extra peace of mind.

How does it work?
๐Ÿ’œ Neffy is suitable for anyone weighing 30kg and above.
๐Ÿ’œ You should always carry two, because a second dose might be needed in some anaphylaxis emergencies.
๐Ÿ’œ Small, easy to carry around, long shelf life (up to 30 months), and not affected by extreme temperatures.

What the experts say...
๐Ÿ’œ Early data suggests EURneffyยฎ works well for most people at risk of anaphylaxis. The British Society for Allergy and Clinical Immunology (BSACI) have said it may help reduce hesitation to carry or use adrenaline.
๐Ÿ’œ According to BSACI, EURneffyยฎ isnโ€™t suitable for everyone, if youโ€™ve ever needed more than one dose of adrenaline, or had severe anaphylaxis with low blood pressure, you should still carry your adrenaline auto-injector pen (AAI).
๐Ÿ’œ Your GP or allergy specialist can help decide if EURneffyยฎ is an option for you or your child. Always ask your medical professional for advice.

Your next steps...
๐Ÿ’œ Speak to your GP or allergy doctor to see if EURneffyยฎ is right for you and remember to always follow your Allergy Action Plan and call emergency services immediately after using adrenaline, whether EURneffyยฎ or an AAI like Epipen or Jext.

At The Natasha Allergy Research Foundation, weโ€™re really pleased about this new treatment option for people at risk of anaphylaxis. Every step forward helps children, adults, and families living with severe food allergies feel a little safer and more confident.

๐Ÿ’œ We are heartbroken to share the passing of 24-year-old Harry James Kitto, who tragically lost his life after a severe allergic reaction while travelling with his girlfriend Naomi in South America.

Harryโ€™s family have described him as being kind, adventurous, funny, and full of life. His family and friends now face a devastating loss.

His allergic reaction occurred in Buenos Aires, after eating a churros dessert he had been assured did not contain peanut, to which he had a known allergy. Harry and Naomi were due to return home just a few days later.

This terrible news has been reported in the press after a Go Fund Me page was created in Harryโ€™s memory. We at Natasha's Foundation continue to support the family as they take the time and space to grieve privately.

Our love, sympathy, and thoughts are with Harryโ€™s family and friends at this painful time.

Together, we must keep working towards a future where no life is lost to food allergies, in Harryโ€™s name, in Natashaโ€™s name, and in memory of every person lost to food-induced anaphylaxis.

In Rome, five people have gone on trial for manslaughter following the tragic death of a 14-year-old British girl who suffered an anaphylactic reaction after eating a dessert containing undisclosed traces of peanuts.

The teenager, who had a known peanut allergy, became seriously unwell within minutes of leaving a restaurant in Rome last October. By the time her family returned to their accommodation, she was struggling to breathe. Paramedics rushed her to Hospital, but she was pronounced dead on arrival.

Following an investigation, Italian prosecutors charged the deli owners, the director of the importing firm and two other company representatives. The baklava dessert the family ate was found to contain peanuts, but the packaging did not declare this.

Although Turkish suppliers are not legally required to list allergens, Italian law states that companies must verify all points of the supply chain to identify potential contamination. Prosecutors allege these checks did not happen.

The teenagerโ€™s family say she was always extremely careful about her food allergy, double-checking food labels and making sure restaurant staff were always informed.

This devastating case is yet another reminder that clear allergen labelling and strong supply chain accountability save lives. Every country, every company, every supplier must take responsibility, because food allergy safety is non-negotiable.

No family should ever have to experience such a preventable and avoidable loss.
