Dear Colleagues and Friends,

Organized every year, the European Leksell Gamma Knife Society meeting represents an occasion to discuss and delineate new objectives for the ongoing process of integration of Radiosurgery within the concert of modern neurosciences. Our continuous goal is to learn from each other, to share with each other the experience and expertise we gained. It is also a pleasant event that has always enjoyed a strong attendance, where, together with our Society's best friends and active collaborators, we pass into review some important chapters of Radiosurgery, therefore also giving our meeting an exquisite scientific stature.
The chosen topics are of great radiosurgical interest, and we consider that they will ensure very incentive discussions following presentations. We are confident that all these debates will converge in obtaining a better knowledge of the actual possibilities of European Radiosurgery and issuing an exceptional scientific and complete social event.
It is with great pleasure that we invite you to join us in Bucharest this November for a friendly and interesting event. By European standards, Bucharest is not an old city, its existence first being referred to by scholars as late as 1459. Its eclectic architecture is a mix of historical, interbellum, Communist-era and modern. In the period between the two World Wars, the city's elegant architecture and the sophistication of its elite earned Bucharest the nickname of the "Paris of the East" or "Little Paris".
Bucharest has several landmarks that are identified with it throughout the world, as it is for example the Palace of the Parliament, built in the 1980s and currently the largest building in Europe and the third largest in the world. The Palace houses the Romanian Parliament, as well as the National Museum of Contemporary Art. Bucharest also has a number of cultural venues that are often considered icons of the city, such as the Romanian Athenaeum.
Bucharest's culture has, especially in the last 20 years, become more modern and worldly and has a great influence in domains such as theatre and music. Additionally, Bucharest has two internationally renowned ethnographic museums, the Museum of the Romanian Peasant and the open-air Village Museum. The Museum of Romanian History is another important museum in Bucharest, containing a collection of artefacts detailing Romanian history and culture from the prehistoric times, Dacian era, medieval times and the modern era.
The meeting will be held at Novotel Bucharest City Center Hotel, a very fine 4* Hotel, which is on walking distance of almost all attractions of the Old City Centre of Bucharest and will provide to our participants comfortable rooms and perfect conference facilities. Additionally, on walking distance there are some of the finest 5* Hotels in Bucharest for superior lodging conditions and a large variety of very good 3* and 4* Hotels with reasonable prices for our younger colleagues. All these Hotels provide shuttles for the Airport. Public transport is also available, by train, subway or by bus, but many ride-sharing platforms (Uber, Bolt, Blue) are operating very well in Bucharest and most taxi companies are available on mobile app. Also, Novotel Hotel is at 5 minutes walking distance to the selected “Caru` cu Bere” Restaurant where we have the great pleasure to invite you on Saturday evening to enjoy a Romanian traditional cuisine and brewery event.

We would be extremely honoured to have you as guests in November 2024 at Bucharest!
Welcome to Romania!

Hoping you shall find our invitation compelling and honour us with your presence, I remain,
Your Host,
Dr. Fery STOICA
