From sequencing to nutrigenomics: On 18 Sept 2025 eBio-Hub hosted the Microbiome & Nutrition Workshop led by Prof. Gratiela Grădișteanu. We explored how cutting-edge microbiome science translates into nutrition—covering sequencing tools, microbiome engineering, nutrigenomics, and diet–microbiome links. With international insights from Assoc. Prof. Gabriela Tenea (Universidad Técnica del Norte, Ecuador), the workshop spotlighted microbial metabolites, strain validation, and why function matters beyond taxonomy.

Celebrating Bilateral Excellence: The project „Plasmonic e-Tattoo Device for Ketone Detection from Sweat” coordinated by Ciprian Iliescu -ERA Chair and of eBio-hub and Vlaceslav Sprincean -Moldova State University was awarded in the presence of Daniel DaDirector vid – Romanian Minister of Research and Education at Researchers' Forum "Stronger Together in the European Research Area", 2nd edition on 23rd of August 2025, at Chișinău. The Researcher’s Forum is an event dedicated to strengthening collaboration between researchers from Romania and the Republic of Moldova by facilitating dialogue, exchange of ideas, and joint initiatives in the fields of research and innovation.

Inside the Bio-hub lab: a look at intestinal epithelial cells glowing under the microscope!

These engineered cell models are part of our bioengineering platform, designed to explore how microbiome modulators influence gut barrier integrity, immune responses, and overall host health. By integrating cell biology, microbiome science, and point-of-care technologies, the eBio-hub aims to accelerate translation from lab discoveries to real-world clinical and nutritional solutions.

Exploring 3D Cell Culture: Spheroid Formation in Action
Today’s focus: generating keratinocyte and fibroblast spheroids using two complementary approaches — the hanging drop method and Nunclon™ Sphera™ plates. After just 24 hours, spheroid formation is already underway, as shown in the images above. One highlight: a fibroblast spheroid embedded in a collagen matrix — a strategic step to reinforce the surrounding extracellular environment and mimic in vivo conditions more closely.

Proud Moment: Dr. Bianca Tihăuan Selected for Prestigious SIDP PK/PD Scholarship!

Our colleague, Dr. Bianca Tihăuan was selected as one of only 12 scholars (from ~100 applicants) to attend the inaugural SIDP PK/PD Scholarship, hosted by the Society of Infectious Diseases Pharmacists with ESCMID in Madison, Wisconsin, USA.
This two-day, hands-on workshop focused on advanced PK/PD principles and antimicrobial dosing strategies, equipping participants with practical tools for optimizing therapy and advancing stewardship.
We’re proud of Dr. Tihăuan for representing our team and engaging with international leaders in infectious diseases pharmacotherapy!

🌿 Summer School: Smart Solutions for Regenerative Medicine
📅 June 10–11, 2025 | 👥 ~50 participants
Organized by the eBio-team under the eBio-hub Project, this two-day event brought together innovation, learning, and hands-on experience in regenerative medicine.
🧠 Day 1 featured a series of insightful plenary sessions exploring key topics in neuroscience and regenerative technologies.
🧪 Day 2 offered practical training through an interactive cell culture and wound healing workshop, giving participants valuable hands-on experience.

Organized by APMG and endorsed by eBio-hub, the conference gathered over 100 participants from around the world to exchange innovative research and promote scientific collaboration in the fields of bioengineering and polymer science.
