Fear resides in the body and mind.

How to conquer fear? Face it every day.
How to face it? Practice. 🧘🏼☺️ Show up and do your best.

Practice to the limits of your current abilities. Keep trying, don’t give up, find the strength within you, let it surface. You will be surprised to see courage shows up in practice and stays with you throughout the day.

One more reason to practice: to be able to conquer fear, laziness, procrastination, to go beyond the comfort zone and find out what we are capable of in this life time.

Stay consistent, put sincere effort in your practice and let go of attachments to the outcome of asanas and the external parts of the practice. They are the means, not the destination. The real treasure is the work we do inside, how this practice helps us find our true potential.

Be brave and just show up. Do your best.

Sharing today’s thoughts in practice. ☺️🙏🏻🧘🏼
Have a great day!
Lots of love,
Andreea ❤️🙏🏻☀️

Repost

“Someone will always be able to do it better than you,” was a daily, humbling reminder that struck me to my core while studying in Mysore. During my first couple of trips, I practiced in the 4am early morning group. By the time I rolled my mat out, Sharath was already halfway through his practice. As I awkwardly labored through the first half of the primary series, directly in front of me, Sharath was floating through the postures of the advanced series. And without fail, every day like clockwork, I’d be in navasana as I watched Sharath catching his thighs in backbends. We were both struggling, just on different levels in our development of postures. One day it dawned on me that, regardless of how advanced the practice might become, it’s always the challenge and the potential growth it offers that are important. So, whether you’re finding that challenge in learning your first sun salutation or putting your legs behind your head, the important part is how you handle yourself within that space. The postures are only a means and never the end result.”

India is a mix of everything. But more importantly, it is a place to find peace. No matter our life goals, no matter where we are in the world, we are all looking for peace.
And the funny thing is that amidst all the chaos that India is well known for, here you find peace. In all the craziness. Things are simple here and willingly or not, you also become reduced to being simple. Simple tastes, simple clothes, almost no footwear, lose the sunglasses, no competition, no heaviness, just simple living.

Yoga is not a common practice amongst Indians, as one might believe. Most people are not interested or aware of its benefits. But it is the place where you can practice it the best. There is silence inside and noise only outside.

I lived here for 15 months now, on and off in the past 2 years. I am learning many things, still adapting to some but I have a weird feeling of belonging. I’ve had it from the beginning. There is only one other place in this world where I have the same feeling.

I live in a very simple, small room with a beautiful and loving (used-to-be) street-dog that I love dearly, I practice, I work, I cook, I feed the animals in the neighborhood, I do my best. And I am at peace.

I read this quote that home is the place where you don’t feel you want to run away from. I guess it is.

Thank you for the photos, Toni! 🙏🏻💙dias_

Lessons we learn along the way 🙏🏻🧘🏼

Aiming for the final expression of the asana at all costs is often a price too high to pay.

Ashtanga yoga is a life-long journey. We need this body to walk it through to the end. If we push and forcefully get into an asana faster then it is meant to come with consistent work, consequences are often too big and they last for too long, preventing us from actually working on our struggle asanas with love, kind attention and full hearted dedication. This way our body will be prepared to sustain the asana in the daily practice.

We came into this life in this particular body, we need to learn to navigate it with kindness and awareness, to make it to the end in one piece and with peace of mind.

Othewise, we push for one more step forward and we end up taking three steps back.

The practice is showing where work needs to be done. When pain shows up, it is not only a call to step back, it is a call to go slow and pay more attention, see where it is coming from. And keep going with kindness.

My Eka Pada is getting a tiny bit better after one year, but it is far from being complete. I am working on it and ackgnowledging the small, small progress (and sometimes regress) along the way. It takes time, consistency and dedication. And love.☺️🙏🏻💙

Not my greatest Eka Pada but a beautiful photo by

What is the purpose of practice? Why do you do it?

For me it is mental clarity. I see things better, my mind is calm, still and I can hear my inner thoughts clearly. It is said that we all posess wisdom within, our mind is just too agitated and too “on top of things” so we are not able to hear it, to tap into it.

With practice, mind becomes concentrated on one point and things around slowly start to clear.

Whenever I have something on my mind, I work on it during my next practice. By connecting to the breath and releasing the mind in this moving meditation that is Ashtanga yoga, the solution becomes self evident. Sometimes in one practice, sometimes it takes more practices and more days, but it always comes.

Otherwise we get too engrossed with the outer world and it becomes so challenging to settle, to come to a still point and in that state, we can’t really see anything clearly.

I am in India for a while now but if you want to practice, I am there for you online almost every day. Please see the schedule and feel free to join. There’s never a better time to start then now. ❤️
Go easy and stay consistent.

Have a wonderful year ahead! ✨⭐️
Love,
Andreea 🥰🙏🏻

“The teacher is there to give you reassurance that you are on the right path, but the real inner teacher is in the practice itself.
For deeper understanding to arise, the mind must be transformed.”
