"I felt curious as to why some contributors in this compilation limited themselves to merely adjudicating omnipotence as being a form of early ego functioning. Consequently, these contributors emphasized only the need for empathy, in order to fill a void in the early development of the child.

Other authors, in contrast, whilst stressing the importance of early omniscience, did differentiate between omnipotence denoting a feeling of power stemming from manic defensive ego functioning that includes arrogance, and omniscience where no power is necessarily involved, but there is a lack of awareness in the autistic sense of this notion."
