Pics to go on the Timisoara Tour Guide wall of fame: important people I did tours for, memorable moments I was part of. In this case, the first edition of the Timișoara Cities Summit (September 30, 2025), bringing together mayors from 15 different European countries, politicians, ambassadors and political analysts. I was hired to do a custom made tour for Mr. Dragoș Pîslaru, the Minister of Investments and European Projects of Romania, and it was a surprisingly relaxed and joyful experience. The second picture features the president of Romania, Mr. Nicușor Dan, witnessing the interconfessional and intercultural experience of the Banat as described by the Roman-Catholic Bishop of the Timișoara Diocese, His Excellency József Csaba Pál. Last, but not least, please notice the little magenta head in the background 🤭

Happy birthday, Eugene (of Savoy), wherever you are! And thanks for giving us a modern Timișoara! We don't know what exactly he partied to when celebrating his triumph over the Ottomans, but we can imagine it was something like this, give or take the young lady. We know that when going to war troups would bring along the entertainment of the time, so some Baroque music must have been played to honour him and his legendary deeds. Tonight we enjoyed a performance of early Baroque music courtesy of Caius Hera (the man behind the Baroque Music Festival of Timisoara) and Ilinca Andronachi. This was just a little part of the conference series dedicated to the Baroque heritage of Timisoara put together by the amazing team of Heritage of Timisoara. Make sure to check out their exhibitions and events still going on this month.

Diversitate bănățeană, atât în spirit cât și în farfurie. La MulticulTIM, Festivalul Comunităților Etnice, împreună cu alți aproape 40 de comeseni, la dezgustat de bucate bănățenești. Drag mi-o fost să givănesc cu oameni care m-au inspirat în tururi, de la care am învățat povești. Aici, pe fundal de târg a la Stefan Jäger, cu doar două dintre ele, Roxana și Oana, vesele și colorate....cum altfel să și fii după o seară cu prieteni, cu muzică și cu un doboș ca la mama lui din Banat. Lipsește portocaliul Fetei care gătește cu flori, , inițiatoarea ospățului, deci trebe musai un bis.

Curiozități din urbea barocă: Bastionul Maria Theresia sau Ravelinul Proviantului, depozitul de alimente, muniție și artilerie al armatei, a fost gândit ca o citadelă finală, acel ultim avanpost de rezistență al apărătorilor în caz de orice tip de asediu.
Ipoteză: posibil ca șinele din imagine, pe care le-am descoperit în 2015 în interiorul bastionului, să fi deservit vagoneții cu muniție pentru tunuri.

Timișoara and the Banat area are "MulticulTim". You know it, I know it, everybody knows it. But how does the Banat taste? Oh, like pure drops of heaven. A fusion of sweet and savoury and all good things that diversity brings to the table. Eating is believing, so Fata Care Găteşte Cu Flori together with the town hall of Timisoara brought people to the table to strangthen their faith. Representatives of different ethnic communities, journalists, food bloggers, and yours truly got to enjoy (and overeat) the dainties of the Banat during this year's edition of the Festival of the Ethnic Communities...yumm

Despre weekendul trecut. Ca timișoreancă, n-am simțit niciodată că orașul e atât de efervescent cm a fost weekendul trecut, I loved it! Cu siguranță în 2023, dar atunci parcă nu era doar despre noi, localnicii. Anul acesta Timișoara City Celebration mie mi s-a părut the most. Printre zecile de activități, au fost o mulțime de tururi de oraș, cu tematici diferite și ghizi faini. Eu am făcut trei: unul cu tematica baroc (Heritage of Timișoara), împreună cu colegii de la Prin Banat, unul cu un grup de turiști de la Galați, și unul absolut grozav pe Bega în cadrul Festivalului Taifas, unde m-am simțit un adevărat MC pentru seniorii din Timișoara. Asociația Contrasens a avut o inițiativa grozavă îndreptată către seniorii noștri, o plimbare de 3h pe Bega, cu Pelicanul până la ecluza de la Sânmihai. Cu muzică, prăjituri de demult și povești despre gastronomia Banatului depanate de fata cu umbrela roșie cu participarea tuturor doamnelor de la bord. Am vorbit despre meșpaisuri, despre rețetarul bănățenesc și cel pătruns din Vdchiul Regat după 1919, despre fabrica de gheață și despre cofetăriile faimoase în perioada interbelică. Vă las să vă delectați cu poze, pe mine ma așteaptă niște gomboți cu prune 🤭

Swamp city reloaded. This time we sailed the new kid on the Bega, the Saga 1948 . An intimate atmosphere in the company of artists and architects, all around Banat lovers. Sail our little canal to enjoy a beautiful sunset, good music and stories of the olden days of Timisoara, as well as a delicious dinner or wine tasting for yourself and your guests. For the past 11 years, Timisoara Tour Guide has provided tours (walking, tram, boat & plane tours) and other tourist services (team building events and entertainment activities related to Timisoara and Banat) dedicated to corporate groups, state institutions (Regional Transport Company- RATT, universities, County Council) and conference organisers (medicine, dentistry, psychology and psychiatry). Over the years I've made it a habit to be away on my birthday. Last year, though, was quite special. My first time in the US, and after I visited New York with all its migration/ genealogy related sites, I flew across the country to Arizona. I had some of my oldest friends from Romania with me, but I was so so lucky to have new ones celebrate my birthday in the comfort of their own home. Surrounded by love and American food 😁 The picture shows Dorrene and I holding a book about the village of Ilidia (aka Little America), that I brought over to the States for the Romanian Genealogy Society. And my surprise birthday balloon. Thank you, Dorrene for your warm welcome and generosity. You made my day. Looking forward to having you and the other lovely ladies from the RGS back in the Old Country ❤️❤️❤️
