Nuad Boran (Thai Massage) is a body therapy whose objective is to give the body, mind and spirit a state of balance and harmony, thus generating the conditions for the being to maintain its natural state of self-healing and well-being. It is part of the 4 branches of traditional Thai medicine, which consists of treatments with herbs and plants, food diets, body treatment and spiritual practices. Nuad Boran goes beyond a massage for the body, is oriented to work on the lines of energy Zen or Nadis, according to Ayurveda, that are part of our energetic body or pranic body. Any block
on these lines of energy affects also the physical body, manifesting as contractures, pains, muscular shortenings, tensions, lack of blood circulation, drowsiness, apathy, physical and mental fatigue, etc. Both the therapist and the receiver wear clothes made of natural fibers. The massage is done from head to toes, making pressures with hands, fingers, elbows, forearms, knees, feet, as needed, and alternating with stretches in different areas of the body. Eliminating thus diverse blockages on the lines of energy. The Thai massage practitioner uses their body weight while the client uses his or her breath control to move deeper into and out of each posture. Working together, the therapist and the client can obtain a more thorough massage than when working alone. Working within a safe range of motion the practitioner alternates between gentle and deeper techniques to help the client release tension and open up the flow of energy and vitality. By working in this way, the receiver is released from accumulated tension, stress, pain, increases flexibility and range of joint movements, improves his/her posture, amplifies his/her energy level and achieves a state of well-being and peace.
