We present two novelties of the Liston company from the category of auxiliary equipment — the Liston thermostatic water bath In 1107 and the Liston thermostatic water bath In 1207.

Samara scientists have simplified the search for veins using AI.

Samara University researchers have created a digital image processing algorithm that improves the visibility of veins for precise needle insertion. The development, published in the Journal of Biomedical Photonics & Engineering, solves the problem of inconspicuous vessels that complicate blood collection.

Traditional optical methods, including infrared imaging, suffer from low contrast and depth. A new algorithm based on the discrete Fourier transform (as in MP3 or JPEG) enhances sharp transitions in pixel intensity by highlighting veins.

The algorithm is superior to its analogues, clearly distinguishing veins from tissues. It will become part of a domestic imaging device that is accessible under sanctions and convenient for patients with high BMI. Scientists are currently improving the optical configuration so that the device works even with severe skin pigmentation.

The Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation recommended that new drugs that prolong life and effectively fight cancer be included in the list of vital and essential medicines (VED). This was reported in the press service of the department after the meetings of the commission on August 6-7, 2025.

The list includes drugs for the treatment of hemophilia A, anemia in beta-thalassemia and myelodysplastic syndrome, as well as drugs against tuberculosis with multiple resistance, breast cancer, esophagus, nasopharynx, urothelial cancer and prostate.

A drug has been added to reduce neutropenia during chemotherapy. Among those named are lonoctokog alfa, luspatercept, pretomanide, capivacertib, camrelizumab, enfortumab vedotin, darolutamide and pegfilgrastim.

The Commission takes into account clinical efficacy, pharmacoeconomics, availability of alternatives, and supply volumes from manufacturers. Prices are reduced: therapy for paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria has fallen in price 2.5 times since August 2024. Inclusion in the VED is not necessary.
