"What do the Chemistry Olympic Games mean to me?"
For me, the Chemistry Olympic Games are more than just a competition. It's an event where every team bonds from the very first minute, and everyone involved maintains a strong spirit and creates a friendly atmosphere. I see these games as a chance not only to demonstrate my knowledge and skills but also to go on a three-day mini-trip, take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city and studying, make new friends, have a great time, gain strength before exams, and once again enjoy spending time at Vostok-6.
"Why should I receive an invite?"
I actively participate in various events organized by SPCFU, striving to deepen my knowledge and skills, so I really want to attend the KOI, as it's a great opportunity to show off my skills, make new friends, and enjoy the active activities.
"What do I expect from the Chemistry Olympic Games?" First of all, I'm looking forward to meeting employers. This is a great opportunity to prove myself. I'm also really looking forward to the Hero Race, where everyone can show off their physical fitness (hopefully sunny weather), and the disco. Overall, I expect to have a ton of fun with an active and optimistic team and meet like-minded people from both our university and elsewhere.

St. Petersburg Chemical and Pharmaceutical University students at the first off-site intensive course for St. Petersburg students organized by the VECTOR Center

🚀 From March 13th to 15th, the first off-site intensive course for St. Petersburg students organized by the VECTOR Center took place in Zelenogorsk at the Helios Hotel. Participants explored key concepts and ideas related to teamwork, participated in training sessions to develop cross-professional skills, and presented best practices in student self-government.

👩‍🔬👩‍🔬 St. Petersburg Chemical and Pharmaceutical University was represented at the off-site course by Valeria Karaganova, a fourth-year student in the Faculty of Industrial Technology of Medicines, and Ksenia Pankova, a second-year student in the Faculty of Pharmaceutics.

💬 Valeria Karaganova:
"I enjoyed interacting with the students in randomly assigned groups the most. Everyone was very enthusiastic and active. The trip helped me meet interesting people from different universities, people I hadn't even heard of. It was fascinating to interact with students from completely different fields and make useful contacts. Participating in such trips provides a unique experience of interacting with people you wouldn't normally meet. These trips are a great opportunity to strengthen soft skills, make new friends, and gain knowledge not found in the regular curriculum. It's a unique experience working in teams and meeting student activists from all over the city. If you have the chance to go, definitely take advantage of it; you never know what experience will turn out to be life-changing.

💬 Ksenia Pankova:
"The most memorable lecture was Viktor Krylov (founder of the Exclusive school-studio) on the potential of neural networks for content creation. It was very interesting to learn how artificial intelligence can be applied in creativity and other fields. I'd also like to highlight the "Fort Boyard" sports game and team reflection: these formats proved to be extremely lively, emotional, and uniting. I've come to the conclusion that effective teamwork is a balance between two extremes: you shouldn't take on all the responsibility yourself, but you also shouldn't rely entirely on others. It's synergy, or, in the context of our team project, symbiosis, where everyone can realize their potential through a shared outcome or act as a guide for a colleague, helping them contribute to achieving their goal."

🔥 We thank the girls for their motivational feedback and wish them success in conquering new heights! The intensive program has become a new platform for developing the city's student community and building a strong community of young people.

Binnopharm Group, February 26, 2026, 10:25 AM
Rustem Muratov, CEO of Binnopharm Group, spoke at the industry forum "PHARMLIGA – Leaders' Meeting," held in Moscow. The event traditionally brings together owners and executives of pharmaceutical companies, distributors, and pharmacy chains, as well as representatives of regulatory agencies, setting the industry development agenda for the year ahead. During the exclusive "First Opinions" session, Rustem Muratov presented his vision for the transformation of the Russian pharmaceutical market in a global context.

The speaker cited the increasing complexity of the product line as a key driver of business development. Innovation, new combinations, and the development of strong brands are becoming important tools for protecting against pricing pressure. Binnopharm Group is already developing this area in partnership with leading Russian scientific institutes. In 2025, the company began a strategic collaboration with the Research Institute of Clinical and Elecology (NIIKEL), a branch of the Institute of Cytology and Genetics of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences (Novosibirsk), to develop an original gastroenterological drug, as well as a joint project with the St. Petersburg Chemical-Food and Pharmaceutical University (St. Petersburg) to develop an innovative treatment for non-alcoholic fatty liver disease.

Special attention was paid to export potential in the speech. As the CEO noted, Russian technologies and production quality are currently in demand in the Southeast Asian markets of Vietnam, Indonesia, and the Philippines. Local players are showing interest in cooperation, considering alternatives to European and Chinese supplies, and Binnopharm Group intends to strengthen its presence in these countries.

"The extensive growth model, focused solely on increasing production volumes, is gradually exhausting its potential. We must seek new approaches—more complex products, new markets, and innovative solutions," emphasized Rustem Muratov.

The 4th Intensive Winter School for Teachers has concluded.

From February 12th to 14th, a large-scale educational program for teachers was held at the St. Petersburg State Chemical and Pharmaceutical University (SPCPU). Twenty-one teachers from 13 schools in St. Petersburg and the city of Volzhsky (all schools are part of the SPCPU ecosystem) participated.

The goal of the intensive program was to connect school chemistry and biology curricula with the real-world requirements of the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries.

⁉️ What was in the program?

The intensive program consisted of two modules:

✔️ Pedagogical module: Participants immersed themselves in problem-based learning technologies, learning to construct problematic situations based on school subjects.

✔️ Scientific and technological module: Teachers analyzed professional standards in the pharmaceutical industry and sought ways to reflect them in lessons.

⁉️ What about practice?

The teachers not only attended lectures but also worked in the SPCFU workshops:
- synthesized dyes in the Scientific and Educational Center for Chemical Technology of Organic Substances;
- designed a reactor and modeled the processes within it;
- mastered elution and thin-layer chromatography methods;
- solved a biotechnology puzzle;
- learned about toxicology through play;
- studied methods for producing microcapsules;
- discussed various chemical reactions in the Department of Inorganic and Physicolloid Chemistry.

⁉️ Why is this important?

A modern school is not only about knowledge transfer but also early career guidance, especially in high-tech industries like pharmaceuticals and biotechnology.

💬 Daria Sergeevna Sisse, Acting The Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs emphasizes:

"The pharmaceutical and biotechnology industries are rapidly developing: new drug development methods are emerging, bioengineering technologies are improving, and the demand for qualified personnel is growing. Professional standards for these specialties—for example, 'Specialist in the Field of Biotechnology of Biologically Active Substances' and 'Specialist in Industrial Pharmacy in the Field of Drug Production'—clearly define the competency requirements of enterprise employees. Schools can begin to develop these competencies as early as basic and secondary education."

Thanks to such programs, teachers find entry points for professional competencies in the curriculum—and can already demonstrate to students in the classroom how chemistry and biology are connected to real-world professions.

💬 Elena Viktorovna Yushkova, Head of the P*K Center at St. Petersburg Chemical Federal University:

"Teachers suddenly realized that the topics of regular lessons are not only related to professional competencies, but should also be tailored to industry needs and the challenges of high-tech production. There are no comparable educational intensives in the pharmaceutical industry or other manufacturing-related fields."

🤝 The program partner is Pharmasyntez Nord JSC, the largest domestic manufacturer of socially significant drugs. This trilateral collaboration (school-university-business) helps build systemic career guidance and prepare specialists for the real needs of the industry.
