This is Mama J, not my birth mom. She started out as my 1st fostered mom in a line of many that would come & go. She took on the responsibility to love me & poured into my life in so many ways with a fearless determination.
By the time Mama J had welcomed me into her life I had suffered childhood trauma no child or human should face, and she had been teaching 1st & 2nd graders. She had no clue what would unfold from the 9 years of life already behind me but she was determined to make a difference! She along with her village of family, friends, teachers and other community members rose to the occasion to get me ready to start school in the 2nd grade. Yes, you read that correctly, 9 & 2nd.
She has been the one who has been committed to my success more than any person & yes sometimes even my own. I am honored that she took the time to pour into my life & was not deterred by cultural, ethnic, social, or any of our other differences.
She started off as a stranger, turned foster mom, turned family & today she is my closest friendđź’•
Because of her I am here today. Thank you forever! Loveđź’•
Honor those you love & who love you even when you think you don’t deserve it!
