YEAN is a Youth Led Private Agriculture enterprise that provides extension and advisory services to individual farmers, farmers’ organizations and contracts to design and implement innovative youth led Agriculture programs. YEAN strives to facilitate and optimize the engagement of Youth in Agriculture and Food System. YEAN work towards contributing to the SDG Goal 2: Ending hunger, achieving food

security, improving nutrition and promoting sustainable agriculture. YEAN core business in the next 5 years (YEAN Vision 2025) is to continue as a private youth led enterprise that capacitate producers to make informed decisions and adopt agricultural technology and innovations which increase, diversify, specialize, and intensify agricultural production. Areas of intervention

YEAN activities are channeled in six interventions:

● Strengthening the capacity of farmers in value chain specific extension and advisory services
● Promoting youth led Agriculture models
● Youth inclusion in Agriculture Extension Services and programs
● Youth led agriculture outreach for tailored and demand driven extension and advisory services
● Agribusiness Innovation and Incubation Program

- Leading youth led private agriculture extension and advisory services provider in Rwanda ( to individual farmers, farmers’ organizations and contracts to design and implement innovative youth led programs in extension and advisory sector)
- 31,000 active members on YEAN Farmer Platform
- 3500 farmers on 34 well moderated YEAN WhatsApp groups and 27 Commodity specific platform with 3636 members in total
- 28000 members of YEAN Facebook Farmer Platform

- 60 Extension agents in 30 Districts/5 Province in Rwanda

Yesterday , visited Base I & II and Rubuyenge irrigation schemes in to evaluate Q4 of 2025 progress under the of operation and maintenance of irrigation schemes . The visit confirmed that irrigation systems are functioning well and boosting crop production. Farmers are applying improved practices through Daily Proximity coaching, while WUOs and cooperatives remain active in scheme management. Challenges noted include minor infrastructure maintenance and the need for ongoing technical support. Recommendations: ensure regular follow-ups and allocate resources for timely repairs to sustain impact.

Because we know how hard it is for students to link the school knowledge and the real life situations, through the YEFFA program and PEALE (Private Extension and Advisory Learning Experience) Program, YEAN is partnering with EAV Gitwe Technical Secondary School in for technical trainings for Final-year students to gain hands-on skills in Good Agricultural Practices preparing them to serve the community as extensionists and support Rwanda’s agricultural transformation.
