YEAN is a Youth Led Private Agriculture enterprise that provides extension and advisory services to individual farmers, farmers’ organizations and contracts to design and implement innovative youth led Agriculture programs. YEAN strives to facilitate and optimize the engagement of Youth in Agriculture and Food System. YEAN work towards contributing to the SDG Goal 2: Ending hunger, achieving food security, improving nutrition and promoting sustainable agriculture. YEAN core business in the next 5 years (YEAN Vision 2025) is to continue as a private youth led enterprise that capacitate producers to make informed decisions and adopt agricultural technology and innovations which increase, diversify, specialize, and intensify agricultural production. YEAN activities are channeled in six interventions:

● Strengthening the capacity of farmers in value chain specific extension and advisory services
● Promoting youth led Agriculture models
● Youth inclusion in Agriculture Extension Services and programs
● Youth led agriculture outreach for tailored and demand driven extension and advisory services
● Agribusiness Innovation and Incubation Program

- 31,000 active members on YEAN Farmer Platform
- 3500 farmers on 34 well moderated YEAN WhatsApp groups and 27 Commodity specific platform with 3636 members in total

- 60 Extension agents in 30 Districts/5 Province in Rwanda

Today, we have completed a four-day onboarding and orientation for 200 CSA participants in Ntyazo Sector, . Participants formed VSLAs and were introduced to the Smart Irrigation Technology for Sustainable Agriculture Project (CSA), focused on resilience, productivity, and access to finance.

To improve the livelihoods of youth and young women coffee farmers in Ntyazo Sector, , YEAN in partnership with Mastercard Foundation and , is implementing the Smart Irrigation Technology for Sustainable Agriculture Project (CSA), focusing on resilience, productivity, and access to finance through Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs).

Through a four-day onboarding session, the YEAN team is supporting 200 selected participants across Ntyazo Sector to form VSLAs while building skills in climate-smart agriculture and strengthening their economic opportunities.

Under the program, supported by the AGRA and the Mastercard Foundation, young people in Rwanda’s Eastern Province are embracing agriculture as a business and a sustainable source of income.

Today on 30 March, held a validation workshop on the Operation and Management of Irrigation Schemes (OMIS) project at Rubona RAB station to review the inception report for FY 2025/2026 under its contract with YEAN (Lot 1).
