Dr. Shivon Byamukama, MD of Babyl Health Rwanda states that collaboration with innovators and political will by governments is important if Africa is to accelerate digitization in the health sector, and leapfrog into the future.

Our second plenary for the day, aptly named Healthcare's 'M-Pesa' Moment, focused on how to digitize and standardize a people-centred model in the health sector, similar to what has been done in the fintech sector across East Africa.

A call to action from the panelists was that as the custodians of data in countries, government should take the lead in being involved and coordinating digitization efforts with partners on the ground.

To partners – break the silos and integrate efforts, and build on the infrastructure that is in place. To funders – synergize efforts and kill the numerous pilot projects, and invest in interoperability.

Today's first plenary was Testimonials on A Person-Centred Model with speakers John Kamara from AfyaRekod , Dr. Richard Gakuba and Paul Meyer from Commons Project. Key questions asked during the panel:
- How do we put a person-centred model in action?
- What policies need to be put in place to enable the standardization uptake in the digital health sector across Africa to happen?
