“Drugs and alcoholism equal death. If you do nothing to get out, you end up dying. To be a drug addict is to be imprisoned. In the beginning, you think drugs are your friend (they may seem to help you escape the things or feelings that bother you). But soon, you will find you get up in the morning thinking only about drugs. “Your whole day is spent finding or taking drugs. You get high all afternoon. At night, you put yourself to sleep with drugs. And you live only for that. You are in a prison. You beat your head against a wall, nonstop, but you don’t get anywhere. In the end, your prison becomes your tomb.” - Sabrina

MAIN OBJECTIVES OF GARUKA ORGANIZATION

1.To fight against drugs and alcoholism abuse in using preventive measures by mobilization and other means

2.To rehabilitate drugs and alcohol dependents people and alcoholism (Health Care, counseling)

3.To make advocacy for drugs and alcohol dependents in social and legal organizations

4.Create income generating activities for promotion of their well being

5. Create recreational activities for greater fulfillment

6. Participate in environmental protection and fight against HIV/AIDS with emphasis in particular children and young women.

7. Eradicate all kind of violence based on gender

8. Promotion of peace, unite and reconciliation by all means: by awareness campaign, Radio, TV

9. Awareness of gender issues

10. To contribute on poverty reduction.

Hello! To day we would like to let you know Short term effects of using Alcohol which are the following:

Depending on how much is taken and the physical conditions of the individual, alcohol can cause:
Slurred speech
Drowsiness
Vomiting
Diarrhea
Up set stomach
Headache
Breathing difficulties
Distorted vision and hearing
Impaired judgment
Decreased perception and coordination
Unconsciousness
Anemia (Loss of red blood cells)
Coma
Blackouts (memory lapses, where the drinker cannot member events that occurred while under the influence)
