Sanejo Community Project- HoF: Heal our Future

Sanejo Community Project- HoF: Heal our Future This will enable us to achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture. SANEJO COMMUNITY PROJECT (HOF- Heal Our Future).

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

SANEJO COMMUNITY PROJECT-SACOP is a community project based on social and economic support through the best use of current, available resources. We will catalog resources and community talent, and then make plans to efficiently and effectively use technology to manage and sustain property; land environment and water to end hunger. It started in September 2016 envisioning FOOD SECURITY, IMPROVED NUTRITION and SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE through modernized horticulture, fish pond farming, selling salty water (amakera water) and post harvest technology. The project is run by SACOP members and the rest of the community, our project will be run in ten (10) years renewable. We hope the application of our skills and knowledge acquired, and applied researches will help us implement and make this successfully achieved. We want to utilize this knowledge and skills in enriching the communities around us. Our project, SANEJO is specifically designed to solve the problem of horticultural production shortage and lower quality caused by horticultural production due poor agriculture practice and mismanagement of resources, as well as the use of poor variety and low skills on how to improve horticultural production. This project is located in surrounding of RUBINDI River, KABAYA cell, GATARAGA sector, MUSANZE district and will expand specifically nearby rivers located in volcanic area of Rwanda. Background and Problem analysis

Fraterne MANISHIMWE, Jean De Dieu Tuyambaze, and M. Claire UMUTONIWASE with other locals and universities students; from our observation and studies we have discovered that development of Rwanda is based on the security, democracy through the involvement of people and entrepreneurial spirit. This allowed us feel a big welcome in doing deep research on how we can maintain current, develop and grow Rwanda economy through modernized agriculture, tourism as a business leading to sustainable economy where the percentage of social welfare system is self-safe supported. In Northern Province; Musanze district and other volcanic regions there is mismanagement of natural resources (land, water and volcanic rocks) and artificial resources (urines from high schools ). All of the people around there, they suffer low productivity and space due to abundant volcanic rocks deposited in agricultural fields and the aims of project is to collect those volcanic rocks and use them to construct the river banks of RUBINDI River and tank that collect salt water which is affect quality of irrigation water. The space where remove big rocks, we will fill those spaces by small rocks and cover with soil for agriculture purposes. For water management, the construction of rock border between water channels and cultivated land will prevent water turbidity and soil loss. There is efficient use of water through irrigation, fish farming and for rearing animals by providing salt water for animal in cow shade, this salt water will be collected in constructed tank and packaged in big containers in order to distribute to different farmers who rears animals. The urines will be collect from high schools by using plastic tanks for providing high quantity of nitrogen as it is needed by horticultural crops for increasing yields and this will prevent the pollution of natural environment around those high schools. We are starting this project as a way of educating the communities on how to do small-scale farming; which can generate high revenues and provide enough food for the communities throughout the year. In this way, the Millennium Development Goals of poverty reduction ensuring food security and improvement of material, child health is achieved. End hunger, achieve food security and improved nutrition and promote sustainable agriculture (Goal 2 of SDGs)

There is urgent need to engage more youth in farming and agro-processing as one of the ways to help address national challenges such as the growing food import bill and malnutrition.

past is our history, our history is our message, our message is to make a change and so the change is the reason for life! Tough life, tough time...though tough experience. The same date, the same month of 1994 took million of innocent people's lives down....that was so much tragic. Our tears drops over, out and in...so much anger from against that dark moments...! Regardlessly mentions, our tears cleaned and paved way to turning light to live the legacy of our beloved victims. # never again. Its is our 23rd annual 1994 genocide against tutsis commemoration *Both success and failure are part of our ways to success* Genocide is now a part of our experience... *Rwanda was ruined* Now born again. Our New Rwanda with good leadership gives honor and hope; love and comfort to its citizens. The future is in our hands.
Love wins. Together we can.
