Hi All.

Just to inform us that some parents and myself have started a group chat on Facebook purposely to disscuss how well we can assist children who have autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or other similar presentations and/or speech and language difficulties.

Our first meeting in person is scheduled for this Sunday, 1st June 2025 . Venue: Wesley United Church Conference Room.

I kindly urge parents/carers of children who have the communication issues mentioned above to make an attempt to attend. I also welcome the general public who have common interest to also attend. We will be discussing important matters that will help us run this group specifically to assist our children with special needs. Please pass on the message to others who are not in this group page.

I am posting this on behalf of us SINU Community Based Rehabilitation (CBR) staff and Yr 2 students. We will be doing our Speech Therapy assessment practicals in 2 weeks' time. Therefore, we are looking for both paediatric and adult patients who are currently residing at their homes here in Honiara and other outskirt communities nearby Honiara. The diagnosis we are currently seeking are stroke, cerebral palsy, development delay or other neurological issues. I will be the one supervising the Yr 2 CBR students doing free communication and feeding/swallowing assessments. Patients will be in return be provided with free communication and feeding/swallowing therapy activities/strategies after the assessment sessions. Hence, if you know someone who might be in need of speech therapy services, please do let me know so I can be in contact with him/her. An Informed Consent Form will also be provided for either patients or caregivers via email to complete and sign before assessments will be conducted.
