Our kiddos typically save their after-school meltdowns for the people they feel safest with 👊🏼🥰 Ride the wave 🌊 and give them something crunchy to eat to help regulate their nervous system.

In this week's article, I dive into two hacks: blood sugar balance and regulation.

When our blood sugar spikes and crashes, it tells our body it’s not safe. And when we’re not safe, our body doesn’t prioritise making hormones.

By balancing blood sugar, your body will gift you with more energy, better sleep, it will curb those cravings + it works for kid's too. No more sugar crash meltdows 😅

I've included a recipe for the yummiest chocolate protein cookie that's so healthy, I give it to my kids for breakfast knowing that it's going to keep them sustained for hours with the combo of healthy fats & protein from the almond flour plus the fibre from the wholegrain spelt and the antioxidants from the cacao 🌟

When I’m on top of my game I make these little gems once a week. They are perfect for snacks, lunchboxes, even breakfast on the go 🌬

You can’t go wrong with these proportions. Get creative and add in something the kids wouldn’t usually eat (if it wasn’t mixed with yummy chocolate) 😜

1 cup of dates

1 cup of nuts and seeds

2 tablespoons of raw cacao

1 tablespoon of coconut oil

1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon

Zest of one organic unwaxed orange (avoiding the bitter white pith)

Blend on high until the mixture is sticky enough to roll into balls. Alternatively you can press into a glass pirex dish and cut into bite sized pieces.

Keep in the fridge for up to two weeks (if they last that long)

If you’re looking for something to pimp up your next meal, I’d encourage you to give sprouts a go.

🌟Easy to digest
🌟Packed full of nutrients like folate, magnesium, phosphorus, and vitamin K
🌟Easy to grow, all you need is water and two days

It really is this simple:
✔️Soak bean/legume in filtered water for 24 hours
✔️Drain
✔️Leave out on the side/on a windowsill in a jar with a lid for at least one day
✔️They are ready to eat as soon as you see the little sprouty tail
✔️Chuck ‘em in the fridge in the same jar with a lid

In fact these little gems have more nutrients than the full grown plant so a handful of these babies on your eggs in the morning or over a salad or soup is a total non-brainer.

When YOU are ok, you’re able to handle MORE.

I’ve been reminded of this recently after committing to a 30 day morning yoga challenge. It’s only 10 mins and I’ll be honest, the first few days it was hard to get out of bed earlier before the kids were up but my gawd, it’s been transformational to our mornings as a family.

Giving myself more space - physically and mentally has allowed me to…..
🌟Be more patient
🌟Be less affected by my children’s emotions (I’m a massive empath so this is something that is really tricky for me)
🌟This makes me a better leader
🌟I have more empathy
🌟I have more to give my kids
🌟I have more left over to put into MY day after the school drop off
