HAPPY PRIDE from this ridiculous pans*xual to all my fellow qu**rs 🌈
This London pride has never been more important. Right now, that fight is focused on trans liberation. Trans people are being vilified in the media, denied affirming healthcare, excluded from public spaces, and written out of legal protections. In many ways, the UK government has made trans existence a political battleground.
Over the past few years, the UK has seen a chilling erosion of protections for trans people. Gender Recognition Reform has been stalled or gutted in England and Wales, even as Scotland passed a more inclusive version, which Westminster tried to block. Waiting times for gender-affirming healthcare in the NHS have become so extreme they violate basic medical ethics, with some clinics having waitlists of over five years. Access to puberty blockers and transition care for youth has been rolled back under pressure from media-fueled moral panic. Legal definitions of s*x and gender are being weaponized to exclude trans people from single-s*x services and spaces, including in proposed updates to the Equality Act.
This is not an organic movement. It is backed by right-wing think tanks, media campaigns, and figures like Rowling, who give it cultural legitimacy.
🏳️🌈 Why Pride Matters 🏳️🌈
Visibility = Survival
Being visible helps challenge shame, isolation, and erasure.
It tells people, especially young q***r people, that they’re not alone, and that being LGBTQ+ is something to live for, not hide.
A Celebration of Identity
Pride affirms that q***r joy, love, and expression are beautiful and valid.
It flips the script on centuries of stigma and violence.
A Political Statement
Pride began as a riot, led by Black and brown trans women and drag queens like Marsha P. Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, in response to police brutality.
Even today, Pride is a way to demand justice, rights, and protection where they are denied.
A Reminder of Progress and Resistance
Every Pride is a tribute to those who fought for what we have now—and a reminder that the fight isn’t over.
It’s a call to action in places where being q***r is still illegal, pathologized, or deadly.
