Introducing British Shorthairs! 😻

British Shorthair cats are known for their robust build, easy going temperament and plush, thick coat. Their cute circular heads, big round eyes and easy going nature make them one of the most popular cat breeds in the UK.

At Kitty Yoga London we’ve been lucky enough to have a variety of BSH kittens including Goldens, British Blues, Lilacs and Calicos! 💕

It was so lovely to have some Abyssinian kittens join us in classes this month!

🐾Abyssinian kittens are one of the oldest domestic cat breeds. Their origin isn’t known for certain, though it’s clear they have an exotic, overlapping history. The first documented Abyssinian cat was called Zula, she lived in Ethiopia (previously called Abyssinia!) in 1867 and came back to England with a British soldier after the Abyssinian war.

🐾Their distinctive appearance is due to their big ears which act like satellite dishes, capturing sounds from all around. This was crucial to their survival in the wild! They also have long, lean, muscular bodies which makes a change from our British Shorthairs who are 99.9% fluff…

🐾They have a ticked coat which means their individual hairs are a multitude of different colours, typically being darker at the root and lighter at the ends. This gives them a lovely cinnamon shimmer which we got to appreciate this month- especially in direct sunlight! (pictures 2 and 5) 💜
