Burnout is a natural response to the impossible standards we’ve been fed ✋

Be the perfect mum. Hit your work goals. Stay calm. Stay grateful. Enjoy these years while they’re little.

I tried. It broke me.
And then it woke me up.

And I honestly feel like I had to go through that to evolve The Mindful Generation.

What started out as a conscious parenting coaching practice has progressed alongside my own growth journey…

Motherhood was my turning point. But by god has a LOT germinated since. I realised I’d spent my whole life chasing praise and running on stress. Now? I help brilliant, ambitious women unlearn the noise and come back home to themselves.

You weren’t meant to do this alone 😭

Before the Industrial Revolution, we had the village - literally.

Shared meals, shared care, shared wisdom.

Now? We’re spread thin in nuclear families, trying to juggle it all with one dysregulated nervous system and two hands. Four if we’re lucky.

It’s no wonder you feel overwhelmed.
It’s not a personal failing. It’s a systemic one.

The Industrial Revolution designed a model of motherhood that ignores your biology, your nervous system, your need to live cyclically, your intuition and your very real human need for connection and support.

But… the village community isn’t gone.

We just have to rebuild it. Intentionally. Together. Ok, and we may need some virtual and some in-person 😬

I work with mothers to unlearn what society taught us should make us a “good mum”… and relearn what actually works for your body, your brain, and your family.

Being regulated is not the same as being calm 24/7.

Because let’s face it - no one is calm all the time. That’s unattainable. We’re not robots 🤖

During the recent heatwave, I noticed emotions were running high - for both kids and parents. Not surprising really: when we’re hot, overstimulated, sleep-deprived or stressed, we fall out of our window of tolerance.

I’ll admit it - I lost my s**z a couple of days ago.

But then I did what any conscious parent would do...

I brought myself back to a regulated state, then I repaired.

I apologised to my boys for getting short with them. I explained that I was feeling hotter than the sun, overstimulated and stressed - and reminded them that we all need to take care of ourselves in this heat.

We’re here trying to break generational cycles…

But the cycles you’re working to break probably included adults who:

-Never learned to regulate their emotions
-Didn’t take ownership for how they felt
-Expected children to do what they couldn’t
-Didn’t say sorry
-Had no clue how to repair a rupture

Triggers are part of life - whether it’s kids testing your patience, relentless work stress, or a sweltering heatwave.

What matters is how we respond.

Our job is to notice when we’re close to dysregulation → pause → recenter → and repair if needed.

Because when you do that, you’re not just parenting better - you’re modelling emotional intelligence 🫂

And here’s the thing: kids don’t learn emotional regulation through lectures.
They learn it by watching you 👀

June is National Internet Safety Month - and time to rethink when our kids really need a smartphone 📵

📣 97% of 12‑year‑olds already own one - and most get them younger

📣 This early access has been linked to rising anxiety, depression and loneliness in children

📣 Leading voices like Jonathan Haidt recommend no smartphones before 14 and no social media before 16

Regions across the UK are signing the Parent Pact via

…and are raising awareness throughout schools too

creating collective accountability and reducing peer pressure for families. I urge you to head to the SFC website and sign the pact if you haven’t already 😬

The worry is our children getting to year six and being the only kid in the class with a basic phone (or no phone). Let’s make our lives easier collectively and put their mental health first.

Delaying tech is not anti-tech - it’s pro-child.

It offers space for creativity, real life meaningful connection, real memories and emotional strength.

More hours do not equate to more success.

But getting the rest you deserve and a regulated nervous system = more impact 📣

Instead of pushing through exhaustion, try this:

✔ Set a cut-off time & honour it like a client meeting
✔ Remind yourself: Rest makes me sharper, not weaker
✔ Tell yourself: My kids want a well rested mum, not a depleted/stressed one

Future You will thank you. Imagine waking up refreshed instead of running on fumes!

💡Your best self isn’t built on burnout. It’s built on safety at a nervous system level. And it’s safe to honour your body’s needs.

Not for the lack of trying 🥴

Because when society tells mums, “just practice more self-care”, what they really mean is:

👉 Don’t ask anyone else to change, this requires nothing of society
👉 Just manage better
👉 Soothe your stress alone whilst still carrying the full load

Self-care is great, but it was never meant to be a substitute for systemic support.

We need to stop pretending a long bath can fix what a broken system caused 🛁

👩🏼 We need community care, not just “me-time”.
👩🏼 We need partners who truly share the load, not ones who “help” like they’re doing us a favour.
👩🏼 We need a new model that doesn’t push mothers to burnout whilst telling them to just light a candle and breathe through it.

I talk a lot about unlearning patriarchal conditioning - I hate for this to feel like yet another thing to add to your to-do list - but I bang on about it because you deserve better.

You deserve a life that works for you, not just one you have to endure.

You are worthy of experiencing more flexibility, freedom, ease and joy 💃

Once you embody the version of you who no longer settles or tolerates what drains you - that’s when everything starts to shift. (This is where hypnosis is pure magic.)

People around you begin to adapt, step up and respond differently… and suddenly, support doesn’t feel so out of reach 💫
