Currently MRCS B is being conducted in Pakistan at Lahore, Karachi and Islamabad centres by Royal College of surgeons of Edinburgh 3-4 times a year.

Key to success is to revise your theory and practise your skills as much as you can. It's a very well structured exam and the important point in your success is how much you are familiar with the actual exam scenario. Before entering into your bays, read your scenarios carefully and act accordingly. Take a good sleep a day before exam and a healthy breakfast. Your brain needs glucose. 🧠
Be confident! If they have done it, you can surely do it.

Hopefully this covers all the aspects related to part B. Your queries are always welcome. 😊

"How to Ace "

This post is for those aspiring for MRCS and it will cover all aspects and FAQs related to it's part A.

PART A
Part A is a five-hour MCQ exam consisting of two papers taken on the same day with a break of half hour in between.
Papers cover generic surgical sciences and applied knowledge, including the core knowledge of basic sciences anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pharmacology and pathology etc.

Paper 1:
180 MCQs of 3 hrs duration.
applied basic sciences
Paper 2:
120 MCQs of 2 hrs duration
principles of surgery in general

Books and study material
Snell Anatomy review
Atlas by F. Natter
Raftery for MRCS (for basic sciences)
Bailey and Love (1st 4 modules i.e; chapter 1-30)
Online subscriptions
Emrcs (costs around 10000)
Pastest (costs around 30000)
Total exam costs around 2 lac +
As paper 1 covers 75% portion of anatomy so you have to have a strong grip on anatomy.
Basic sciences can be covered by question banks, if needed can be reviewed from Raftery.

Time duration
3 months are good enough with your residency.
Month 1: Build your knowledge by giving a thorough read to books.
Month 2: Do question banks and read all explanations in detail.
15 days for EMRCS
15 days for Pastest
Month 3: Give two revisions to question banks and do past papers and mock exam from Pastest to know where do you stand in your performance.

Pass criteria
300 MCQs carrying 300 marks with the pass percentile of around 75% collectively for two papers that falls around a score of 211 with little variations.

Some would advise not to have a Pastest subscription but Pastest contains all the past papers of recent years that gives you an idea of your exam and additional mock exams created on the paper pattern will help you in tracking your performance before you actually sit on exam chair. 2 persons can share a subscription if you have a study partner.

Exam is conducted four times in a year here in Pakistan by 4 Royal colleges naming Royal college of surgeons of Glasgow, England, Edinburgh and Ireland. Giving an exam of former 3 will make you eligible for registration by GMC (general medical council) of UK and IMC (Irish medical council) of Ireland. While giving an exam with Ireland will make you entitled just for IMC. So former one is preferred.

Key to success is to revise your question banks and recent past papers as much as you can and have a believe that you can do it.
Hopefully this covers all the aspects related to part A. Your queries are always welcome. 😊
