Life beyond the lines...
Tiny Teas Trust is a non-for-profit which makes, donates and sells Choob Toob; a pediatric medical garment explicitly designed for children who have a central intravenous line. I was fraught and then faced with all the hazards of having a baby with a central line involved; I was desperate for a solution. My aunt made the first prototype ahead of Theía's discharge from th
e hospital. At the time, my biggest fear was Theía pulling her line or catching it under her clothes when I picked her up. Little did I know that what I had designed would also dramatically lower the risk of a line infection. For five months, Theía wore many variations of Choob Toob, while my aunt and I improved upon what is now the latest design. She did not once have a single line infection in this time or pull her line, and I firmly believe this is all because of Choob Toob. Many people, from our consultant to the nursing team, have commented on how rare it is for a child to be infection-free while having a central line. It is from this; the idea to bring Choob Toob to other children was born.
