It’s my birthday today 🥳
On days like this I like to reflect on the decisions I made in the past and the things I’m yet to do in the future.
10 years ago, I failed my A level exams. I studied so so so hard but still managed to get a U in one of my biology exams (AQA BIOL4 was the worst!) and I made a decision that changed my life forever.
Instead of listening to my teachers, I decided to take a big risk. I decided to redo my a levels without going back to sixth form. I created detailed study plans and worked in Primark on the weekends to fund tutors to review my answers.
It was hard but I had a clear vision and I was a stubborn girl. I had my heart set on going to a Russell Group uni and I knew that I had the capabilities despite what other people said.
And it paid off.
I went on to study at The University Of Manchester for 4 years completing my bachelors and masters degrees.
If I didn’t believe in myself, I wouldn’t have achieved my dream. It would have always been a ‘what if’ but now it’s a fact. Ya girl did that 💅🏾
So here I am, 10 years later, a woman with a vision and a desire to make a difference in the world.
Mindset is everything.
You can change your life if you put your mind to it BUT you have to believe that change is possible.
Earlier this year, I had to shift my mindset from ‘project manager’ to ‘entrepreneur’ and it was HARD.
You don’t realise how much of your identity is wrapped up into your career until you decide to change it.
So as I enter this new chapter firmly planted in my identity as a entrepreneur, mentor, life coach, writer and future psychotherapist (masters in 2025 👸🏾) I am reminded of my 17/18 y/o self who believed in herself despite the obstacles.
Bring on this next chapter 🥳💪🏾
