We recently installed a new Whitley A*5 Anaerobic Workstation at our hub site at Charing Cross Hospital – replacing the long-serving Whitley A45, which had been in use since 2014 👏

This upgrade marks a continued commitment to high-quality anaerobic research and reliable equipment in the Microbiology Laboratory. The Microbiology team use the A*5 Workstation to recover anaerobes from patient samples. These bacteria are often involved in serious infections, especially in parts of the body with low oxygen levels such as deep wounds, abscesses, or the gastrointestinal tract. The A*5 provides the precise anaerobic conditions needed to culture these organisms for identification and further clinical investigation 🔬🏥
