After a short conversation with Ben, I was able to identify what was happening with Ben's back to cause him pain following his marathon. Ben is an avid gym go-er and had already incorporated stretching into his routine. πŸ‘Œ

πŸ€“ With an analysis of his routine, both lifting weights, practice runs, and stretching, I identified where the gaps were in his routines. We adjusted and incorporated exercises and stretches into his training.

Ben applied these and low and behold, no more pain πŸ₯³

⏰️ Monday motivation - How many Mondays have been and gone since you said I'll "start next week"?
Take action, start today!

I've been saying I'd start going to bed earlier so I could easily wake up earlier 😴 we all have those things we want to do but don't. This is your sign to do one of them from today!

Today is mental health day, the importance of wellbeing is connected to our mental health way more then some people like to admit!

I'm sure there be thousands of post explaining why this is, and so I wanted to give some tips!

The simple version is of why they are connected is that having good mental health, or being mentally healthy, is more than just the absence of illness and rather it's a state of overall wellbeing. Having the ability to cope with and 'bounce back' from stress and sadness, and fully be able to enjoy life.

Tip 1:
If you get ill when during stressful periods of time, whether this be a cold, cough or aching body, these are all signs you need to prioritise your wellbeing more

Tip 2:
Wellbeing isn't just having a bath with candles, or reading a book. For every person it can look very different. What is something that you haven't done in ages, maybe even years, that you absolutely LOVED and could literally lose time doing it? Maybe drawing, playing a board game, hiking, climbing trees?
Make time in the next few days to do that thing!

Tip 3:
Give yourself a break! Often we can be our worst critics, "why did you do that, that was stupid", "ah derhh", sound familiar??
That negative inner self talk is not getting you anywhere. Let start picking up on those and start talking to ourselves like we would our best friend. It sounds simple, but we can spiral one way or another.
Now is your chance to choose the direction of the spiral!

I'll start, I'm going to go for a long walk in the countryside this weekend. I used to go walking with my Grandad when I was little, it always brought me huge amounts of joy and will always continue to!

πŸ’‘Do you struggle to stay motivated to lose weight or get fit?

This is how to start your journey built to last πŸ’ͺaim for the 1% changes, this is how I started my journey over 8 years ago.

I see it time and time again, people say "I'm going on this diet, I'm going to lose weight/get fit, and I'm going to go to the gym 5 days a week", they decide to change 80% or more, of their life, and then wonder why it only lasts a few weeks! πŸ€·πŸΎβ€β™€οΈ

Studies show that we can comfortably deal with up to a 10% change, at a time, before we revert back to what we were doing before...only when we do change back, now we have the feeling of failure to go with it.

I wore that t-shirt a few times, and it felt s**t, stop setting yourself up for failure!

Start with the 1%, they will add up quicker than you think!

It is all well and good losing weight and getting fit, BUT is it sustainable long term?

Completing a program that is based on YOU, while having 1:1 weekly contact, with a person that knows what it's like to be where you are, can be super valuable and you can achieve anything πŸ‘Œ

πŸ“– Story time:
Chiao-Ming came to me having had numerous previous PTs, nutritionalists, and physios, to help her get fit and get out of pain. They only made her feel worse and hate the idea of ever stepping into the gym again.

After 2 months, she looked and felt like a different person, absolutely beaming, she excelled her expectations and was out of the 8+ years of constant pain and disturbed sleep she had been enduring.

Working on her mind and body, while training her how to read the signs, means she has now signed up to a gym, and the last I heard, was due to start Tennis lessons. 🎾

🎯 Her goal was to get out of pain, and she ended up creating a whole new lifestyle for herself. πŸ‘

With the right tools, it's incredible what you can achieve in a meer few months!

With my 5 pillars of health and wellness, mixed with my 3 step system, and her dedication to getting herself healthly, made this possible.

To the left you see me when I was in constant back pain, and unhappy in life.

Let me see the scene. It was 2015, I was working 50/60 hour weeks often as a Historical Costume maker and Tailor in the film industry, feeding a team of makers work.

One day I saw my photos and it dawned on me no matter how much I tried to smile big, it didn't look like much.
The energy had been drained out of me.

Action for my bodies sake, needed to be taken and it needed to be taken now!!

There was a lot of other things they happened to help me come to this conclusion, but this was the first thing, and those stories are for another time.

Anyway, I had always been fit before, so I had a really good basis, but I had never been unfit, so it was completely new territory! So I put my research hat on, and trialed fad diets, and failed, tried 14 days to washboard abs, and failed again. I couldn't even do a sit up at this point, of course I was going to fail!
I came across how the mind can effect the body, and actually if I changed 1% at a time, things would change much quicker then I thought πŸ’‘

So, fast forward 9 months, I had lost 6 stone and was well into my fitness journey, it was now a lifestyle that I absolutely loved!! πŸ’ƒ
