Clean your home without chemicals – Part 1
Chemicals can really strain both our planet’s delicate ecosystem and our bodies. But there’s a simple and affordable way to cut down on harsh cleaning chemicals at home: water ionisers.
Did you know that about 90% of all plastic ever made is still around in the environment? The other 10% has been burned, which unfortunately harms the ozone layer. So, every time you skip buying a plastic bottle, you’re helping to reduce this burden on our environment.
Here’s how you can use ionised water in your home.
LAUNDRY
Instead of detergent, try using 1 liter of Strong Alkaline Water with a pH of 11.5 to get rid of oils and dirt from your clothes. It’s gentle on your skin and eco-friendly too and it won’t fade colors or damage fabrics.
For tough oil-based stains, soak your clothes in pH 11.5 water for at least 20 min. before washing. For protein-based stains, use Strong Acidic Water with a pH of 2.5. If you have smelly whites, soak them overnight in pH 2.5 water.
To add a nice scent to your laundry, just put a few drops of your favorite essential oil into the Strong Alkaline Water during the wash cycle.
FLOORING
Hardwood floors are not only beautiful but also easy to maintain. Instead of using white vinegar, try mildly acidic water with a pH of 4-6. It works just as well without the strong vinegar smell and removes the soapy residue left by traditional cleaners.
You can also use mildly acidic water on tile, vinyl, and laminate floors. Start by cleaning with a floor cleaner that’s suitable for your flooring type, then rinse with the pH 4-6 water.
RUGS & CARPETS
Carpets and upholstery are known for holding onto odors. Traditional cleaning methods use steam and detergent, but the problem is that dirt and oils can get trapped in the soap and re-deposited on the carpet if not rinsed properly. This soap residue then attracts more dirt and oils, so your carpet doesn’t stay clean for long.
To tackle pet smells and prevent fading colors, use Strong Acidic Water with a pH of 2.5. For a thorough clean, use Strong Alkaline Water with a pH of 11.5 along with a steam cleaner. For a nice scent, add a few drops of your favorite essential oil to the Strong Alkaline Water during the final rinse.
