LAST SPACE ✨

One last space for the UPLIFT & REBALANCE workshop on 30 December New Years Eve Eve 🎉

We will begin with a meditation combined with group Reiki healing from Michelle, to help us find centre and an inner connection with ourselves. Reiki translates from the Japanese as Universal Life-force energy (“Rei” Universal “Ki” Life-force energy) and is a form of energy healing which helps to shift blockages within us. In a group setting, the individual practitioner benefits from this healing, but it also brings the collective closer together and sets the scene for the group practice.

Our meditation will lead straight in to an energising and detoxifying breathwork practice to clear out any stagnancy and bring about a sense of vitality. From here we’ll move through a dynamic and creative vinyasa flow yoga practice.

This new found energy will then be grounded with some restorative yoga practices to help soothe and down regulate the nervous system. This will be further encouraged by a tension-releasing massage.

Finished off with homemade pressed juice!

What is Restorative Yoga? ✨

Isn’t all yoga ‘restorative’?🤔

Navigating the modern yoga world can be a little (a lot) confusing at times, especially for those who are relatively new to it. And many of the labels can seem pretty vague…

Restorative Yoga is a therapeutic style of yoga developed and pioneered by B.K.S. Iyengar. It uses props to support the body in various (usually supine) poses that are held for longer periods of time and a focus on nervous system regulation.

So, what can you expect from a Restorative Yoga class?

🌟Supported Poses ~ using various props, such as bolsters and blankets, to support and literally ‘prop’ the body in various positions. Props are also used as weights to ground the body to create a sense of safety & comfort.

🌟 Long Holds ~ allowing the body and mind time to gradually settle and undo patterns of holding or gripping. The nature of restorative yoga is completely unhurried (a refreshing quality amidst modern life’s chaos)

🌟 Introspection ~ the slow, supported nature of restorative yoga facilitates self-inquiry & reflection, helping us to cultivate mindfulness and greater self-awareness.

🌟 Natural, Easeful Breath ~ a focus on uncovering the natural expression of the breath by undoing the tension that binds the body & mind.

🌟 Nervous System Regulation ~ all of the above elements, along with a quiet & calm environment, help to communicate safety & security to the nervous system which in turn shifts into a deeply healing physiological state of relaxation.

Yoga Masterclass Workshop Series 🌟

Super excited to announce a monthly Masterclass workshop I’ll be running .yoga in Wanstead 🥰 starting on Sunday 19 November 2-4pm

These workshops are aimed at giving regular practitioners the time to focus on, and build up to, a specific posture or set of postures that wouldn’t usually be achievable in an open level class.

The first posture that we’ll be playing with is Aṣṭāvakrāsana, or Eight-Angle Pose, an arm balance. This pose demands upper body strength (including scapula stability), spinal rotation, as well as a combination of hip strength and flexibility. Expect to focus on these throughout the practice! All accompanied by an uplifting playlist, of course 🧡

Michelle & I are really looking forward to getting back on retreat next December at this wholesome venue. We’ve had some wonderful weekends away here, and would love for you to join us 🤗
