Days of Design event, and I must say, it was truly exceptional. Copenhagen, with its charming atmosphere, blessed us with perfect weather throughout the event, allowing us to fully immerse ourselves in the world of lighting design.

We had the pleasure of exploring a wide range of lighting concepts showcased by various manufacturers. The Nordic designs were, of course, a highlight, capturing the essence of Scandinavian simplicity and elegance. But what made this event even more exciting was witnessing the innovative solutions presented by exhibitors from around the globe. With 290 exhibitors in total, we had the task of carefully selecting the most inspiring concepts, and it was a joy to see the Danish exhibitors shine on their home turf.

The creativity and craftsmanship on display were truly impressive, reaffirming our passion for the lighting industry. We had the opportunity to engage with fellow professionals, exchange ideas, and gain valuable insights into the latest trends and advancements in the field.

A heartfelt thank you to the organizers of 3 Days of Design for orchestrating such a remarkable event. It was a privilege to be a part of it and to witness the power of design in shaping our surroundings.

Last week, Optoga had the pleasure of being part of several lighting fairs in Europe, including one in Sweden. It was an exciting time as we discussed the phasing out of fluorescent tubes, communication and design in lighting. We were thrilled to be involved in several luminaires and have our IoT modules featured in many of them.

One of the highlights of the fair was visiting the Swedish Energy Agency's stand. We saw how everything communicated in a BACS network based on Casambi, where several companies, including Atelje Lyktan, Fagerhult, Flux, IFÖ, and Örsjö, worked together seamlessly. We learned more about the phasing out of fluorescent tubes throughout Europe, how it would be implemented, and the positive impact it would have on energy consumption in our society.

Our office building was originally completed in 1897 as a station for Arboga Stad. It replaced the previous station building from 1856 when the new railway section between Stockholm and Gothenburg was finished. Arboga, where Optoga has its headquarters, was founded in the 12th century. In the medieval period, a monastery was also established in the town, likely in the 14th century, by the Franciscan order. The Franciscans were a monastic order within the Catholic Church that followed Saint Francis of Assisi's teachings on simplicity and poverty.

If you visit us in Arboga and speak with someone who lives in the cultural-historical buildings here, they will not talk about lighting, but rather about secret passages, ghosts, and unexplained events. These are all part of the history and local lore that people in the older part of the town still hold dear. Every year, Arboga hosts medieval days, and we highly recommend attending one of Arboga Bygdespel's dramatizations from that time.

What is the difference?
HEMS (Home Energy Management System) and BACS (Building Automation and Control System) are both automation systems that aim to improve the energy efficiency and overall control of a building system, but they differ in scope and scale.

HEMS are generally designed for use in residential buildings and small-scale commercial buildings, and the main focuses on managing energy consumption and optimal energy use. HEMS often include features such as smart thermostats, smart lighting controls, and energy monitoring tools to help users track and manage their energy use and costs.
Engineered and designed for use in larger commercial and industrial buildings, the BACS system offers a comprehensive set of automation and control functions. In addition to managing energy consumption, BACS can also control and monitor building systems such as HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning), lighting, security and access control. BACS often contain complex algorithms to optimize building performance and can be integrated with other building management systems, such as fire and security systems.

At Elfack in Gothenburg, the Swedish Energy Agency will display an entire stand based on lighting solutions from different manufacturers, while the Swedish Lighting Association will be there to answer questions.

Lighting can be integrated into the system to provide energy savings and improved control over lighting levels. HEMS and BACS systems can use presence sensors, daylight sensors and timing to automatically turn lights on and off, adjust light levels and switch between different light scenes based on user needs and preferences. By integrating lighting into the building automation system, energy consumption can be reduced and the building's overall efficiency improved. At Elfack in Gothenburg, the Swedish Energy Agency will display an entire stand based on this, while people from the Swedish Lighting Organization will be there to answer questions.

Hey there! Have you ever wondered what the best color for lighting is? It's a question that comes up a lot, and there's often a lot of debate about it. But the truth is, there are standard specifications that provide a clear answer. The ideal range for lighting is between 2700 Kelvin to 4000 Kelvin, with a maximum of 4000 Kelvin in certain areas. Anything above this can cause health and psychological problems. So if you're looking for the perfect color for your home lighting, stick to these guidelines! If you want to spice it up use high CRI, above 90 we recomend.
