I don’t believe there is just one right path,
and even if we get “off” track,
there are always opportunities to get back on track.

But I do believe there is such a thing as:
🌿 not living up to our potential
🌿 moving away from our soul’s purpose
🌿 ignoring our life’s mission

I also know that this is no one’s conscious choice.
Over the course of our life, especially in the very beginning,
we have been heavily programmed,
and a lot of that programming came from
having to deal with stress and trauma.

It was a noble attempt of our system:
💞 to keep us safe
💞 to keep us going
💞 to help us survive

But instead of just working in those moments,
these patterns became “permanent” in your body and mind
because they got reinforced over and over again.
They try to constantly move us out of the way of “danger,”
but I say that because many wires and signals got crossed in that process.

Now later in life, instead of keeping us safe,
these patterns have just become mechanisms that keep us
away from ourselves and the things we came here to do in this life.

That’s why I developed my method Conscious Body-Mind Connection,

without getting tripped up by one or the other —

Build up stress in our system is a slippery slope.
We are designed to be able to cope with stress,
but coping is not meant as a long-term solution.
Yet we are usually good enough at it to make adaptation after adaptation.

Most people have heard the warnings about crashing at the end of the road,
like with burnout or disease, which are very warranted and real.
But it usually costs us a lot even before we get there.
It is just hard to notice.

It is like the frog being boiled alive because the water heats slowly.
It is slowly eating away at our energy, our vitality, our motivation, our clarity, our joy de vivre…

Spoiler Alert: the answer is in your body
Why does it feel like something inside you
is fighting the changes you want to make?
Why does it feel impossible even though you think you want it?

It is normal to have resistance to change.
It is part of our natural safety mechanisms:
if it was safe to eat this mushroom in the past,
it is probably safe to eat in the future.
So when something is familiar, it feels safe.
That was our evolution.

Doing something unfamiliar — which is basically the definition of change —
always has to overcome this biological program.
That is normal, and it is also doable.
That is why most people, once they set their mind to it, can do it.

But when residual stress from trauma is trapped in your body,
entangled with thoughts and beliefs that this change is unsafe
or might work against you for reasons you are unaware of at the moment…

So while for other people making the change is a bit like trying to get past customs,
for you it feels like trying to break out of a maximum-security prison instead.

It keeps your body in a (often hidden) tension,
sending danger signals to the brain,
hijacking your nervous and hormonal systems.
Meanwhile, you wonder why the mindset work isn’t working,
and why you can’t take action.

I am not saying you don’t need that part,
but make sure your body is on the same page first.
That works far more effectively.

Trauma isn’t what most people think it is.
It is simply stress, mental, emotional or physical,
that was too much to handle.
So it couldn’t be processed out of our system.

We had to adapt
and find a place to store it,
as deeply hidden as possible.

But that takes up space.
And there is only so much space we can spare
before it starts going at the expense
of other parts of our healthy functioning.

And that’s without mentioning
the constant suppression we have to maintain
to make sure it doesn’t pop its head out again.
Because we are terrified that, just like the first time,
we still won’t be able to handle it now.

And there is no such thing as selective suppression.
It’s a door that is either open or closed.
We feel, or we suppress.

So living in a state of suppression
also means losing the things we want and crave,
like happiness, love and joy.

We are designed to be able to deal with stress.
Our survival depended on it.
We are being chased by a bear… we run and get to safety where the bear can’t reach us.

But because that was our human reality for hundreds of thousands of years,
even millions if you count the evolution of our nervous system in mammals,
