Meridiem gravid- & kvinnohälsa 💕 Welcome to Meridiem and me, DoulaVicky! We also have Pregnancy Yoga, Mummy-Baby-Yoga, Baby Massage classes and Hypnobirthing.

I am a bilingual Doula (Swedish-English) and Childbirth Educator based in Gothenburg, Sweden and Meridiem is my cosy studio located in the heart of Eriksberg which is easy to get to both by bus, ferry and car from most places in the Göteborg area. The studio offers regular Birth Preparation courses in both English and Swedish, as small groups or private. Some courses are possible to attend online if you don't live in Göteborg or have difficulty attending. Treatments such as Pregnancy or Postpartum Massage, Ear Acupuncture and Acupressure are also available. Breastfeeding Consultations are sometimes held as home visits. Meridiem specialises in Womens' Health and Wellbeing and offers courses and classes in Yoga for Women and Pilates for all ages as well as the specialised pregnancy classes. We are now accepting applications to our 5th Doula Training in English. Fully accredited by ODIS (Organisation for Doulas in Sweden), FörlossningsGruppen has to date also had 29 trainings in Swedish since the start in 2012 and is a reliable, quality assured Doula Training provider, the first in Sweden to offer a course in English. Next planned dates are:

Block I Online (8th and 15th February 2026)
Block II Göteborg (20-22nd February 2026)

Jag valde att fortsätta stötta tvillingmamman trots att hon inte ville föda på sjukhuset… och nu väljer jag att stå upp för hennes och hela vårt lands hembarnmorskor som värnar om alla kvinnors rätt att bestämma över sin egen kropp och göra egna informerade val som är rätt för just dem.

Vet du som läser inte vad detta handlar om så är det bara att Googla. Det har varit överallt i nyheterna de senaste dagarna.

Våra hembarnmorskor är redan alldeles för få. Jag har varit lyckligt lottad att själv fått föda hemma med fantastiska barnmorskor och att ha varit doula vid ett 30-tal hemfödslar ihop med ännu fler. Tack vare deras val att ge så mycket av sig själva för att jag och andra kvinnor ens ska ha ett val, har vi fått stöd att föda på våra egna villkor.

Som doula har jag “lyxen” att kunna stötta kvinnor i detta. Utan yrkeslegitimation att kunna förlora. Utan medicinskt ansvar och ansvar att föra journal. Ingen har ens frågat mig om hur Agneta handlade inför eller under den tvillingfödsel hon nu kritiseras så hårt för trots att jag var där. Jag kunde stötta F***y i sitt val utan att för den skull riskera förbud mot att arbeta mer. Barnmorskor bär ett tungt lass och stort ansvar. De förtjänar allt stöd vi kan ge.

Jag valde att inte överge henne, min klient, när beskedet kom att det var två bebisar i magen den här gången. Hemfödseln var i hennes huvud redan planerad.

Senast i lördags på ett event med massa fina aktiviteter för både medlemmar och andra intresserade.

Since 2012 has trained new doulas in Gothenburg that are now working in different parts around Sweden and also in other parts of the world.

We are delighted to be able to offer a Birth Doula course completely taught in English for those living in Sweden but who do not have Swedish as their first language. Unique to this course is that it not only gives you all the knowledge and tools to start working as a Doula, but it also prepares you specifically for working with births within the Swedish care system.

Tomorrow we will, as always on our Doula Training , be showing video clips where Penny shares valuable knowledge and I am right in the middle of reading our doulas to be’s book reflections of her book The Birth Partner… Penny has very much been on my mind and on my screen today.

With profound sadness and a heavy heart, DONA International announces the passing of our esteemed co-founder, Penny Simkin, PT, after a brief battle with cancer. Her departure on April 11, 2024 marks a tremendous loss not only to our organization but to the global doula community, childbirth educators, perinatal researchers, families she supported, and the countless lives she touched through her pioneering work in childbirth and maternity care.

Penny’s unwavering dedication to supporting families during one of the most significant moments of their lives has left an indelible mark on the field of labor support and childbirth education. Since 1968, Penny, a skilled physical therapist, embarked on a mission to transform the childbirth experience, making it more empowering, informed, and supported. Her tireless commitment to this cause led her to prepare over 15,000 individuals, couples, and siblings for childbirth, directly assist hundreds of families through labor as a doula, and author several influential books that have become staples in the field that have been translated into several languages.

Penny was a visionary and a luminary in every sense. Her work has paved the way for a new generation of doulas and childbirth educators, instilling in them the values of compassion, evidence-based practice, and relentless advocacy for birthing people and their families. Through her profound contributions and co-founding of DONA International, Penny has revolutionized doula care and childbirth education across the globe, leaving a legacy that will undoubtedly endure for generations to come.

Mina fantastiska deltagare på veckans på 😍 Visst är de grymma?! 💪🏼🤩
Så mycket energi, och glädje jag får av detta pass och jag blir lika glad varje gång jag får höra att de känner likadant. Det är underbart att få följa så många av dessa deltagare som kommer regelbundet vecka efter vecka, år efter år… nu som vet vet ju att jag gillar , och även alla nya som kommer 🥰 Träning för både kropp och sinne ✨
