Corybantic Muse The mission of Corybantic Muse is to inspire you on your quest to create and maintain an incredible life.

This means looking at the arenas of your lifestyle, relationships, love, spirituality, and health and wellness to decide what is working for you and what you may be interested in shifting in changing to create an even more incredible life. We see life as a quest of finding your way through your own Wonderland that you are fully in control of and shift or change when you are ready. This means getting curious about your who, what, when, where, and why. That does not mean that bad things will never happen in your life, but that you choose how you respond and deal with those things just like you do with the good things that occur. There is no right or wrong way to do life, there is just different. Each new opportunity presented is yet another rabbit hole you can say yes or no to.

It’s been a hot minute since my last post! Today was scan day. If all is good, it should be my last and I’m free from follow ups! 💃🏻

This past year has been focused on healing my GI tract as the issues had gotten out of control. Thankfully, I’ve made significant progress in this department and I am beginning to lose some of the weight, albeit at a snail’s pace. The working diagnosis is irritable bowel syndrome. Since meds for it haven’t been available, it was recommended to use psyllium husk and, with further research by me, I’ve added chia seeds as well. Thanks to Mighty Fungi I have had enormous improvements with my nerves, brain fog, and calming of my gut. I am not affiliated with them, but they were an enormous game changer for my energy and daily functionality.

After all of this, I’ve decided to become a health coach. There’s an amazing program with a university in the states that I plan on starting soon and going this direction. I can’t wait to share and begin working with individuals around the world on navigating the complexities of healthcare and supporting them in improving their health!❤️

Enjoying a late lunch after taking things slow this morning and focusing on practices. 🧘🏻‍♀️ We finally arrived at our hotel at midnight last night.

My original plan was to come here, but I went the wrong direction and located an Asian massage place to go to so my body will relax after the long trip and all that I did this week. Bonus!

Thankful for wonderful food, time to read, & an iced chai latte as it is incredibly warm today and my body hasn’t acclimated yet.

This has been an adventurous trip thus far! Our first flight showed up about an hour late then had to wait on Copenhagen as they were short staffed. We arrived about 2 hours late! 🫣 Thankfully we originally scheduled a 4 hour layover so we were able to have dinner.

Now our flight is delayed an hour and keeps losing its gate assignment. Funny how much I have missed the fun of the rapidly changing reality (RCR) of flying!

Thankfully, we found a little coffee shop to stop at near a board to read so we can keep rechecking and have seats.

Welp, so much for take off! Copenhagen is understaffed so we’re sitting in our plane waiting to be allowed to take off in 30 or so minutes. One guy is getting off as he’s going to miss his connection after they locked all the doors and got everyone handled. New experience for me!

We are at least in the exit row so extra leg room.

Getting on a plane and off on our first couple adventure since the crazy round trip adventure to the UK when I was 6 months pregnant! When we were checking in our bags the person at the desk made me nervous as I still don’t have my residency card yet and just have my “in processing” letter, but we got it handled.

This is my second trip with my stoma so preparing for it is always an adventure too. This time I packed for 3 bag changes per day for worst case scenario which means 21 bags. This is broken up into 2 places - my daily bag that stays in my purse and a medium sized cosmetic bag in a different bag to be carried on. I am taking my irrigation supplies with me as well and chose to pack those in the checked bag. Typically, I would keep them with me in carry on, but I didn’t want to lose that space. Worst case, I have bags for multiple daily changes and get a whole new wardrobe. 🤪

I forgot to mention having a stoma when going through security, but it caused no issues and they didn’t require a pat down or wand. My stoma supply makeup bag was checked further as was my GoPro camera case. Other than that, it was smooth sailing. I did choose to not eat today until we made it through security and irrigated about 2 hours before arrival so my bag would be empty. This isn’t necessary, but created me feeling less stressed.

After refueling myself, we’re now just waiting for our delayed flight…

Me pretending it’s spring while the snow is falling…

The antibiotics appear to be making everything better. All of my GI issues have disappeared after a year of being sick all of the time. 🤷🏻‍♀️ My chiropractor brought up the possibility that perhaps I’ve had a rogue bacterial infection going on this whole time. I’m actually wondering the same thing as it all started when I finished antibiotics in January of last year. I’ve also noticed my weight is slowly starting to drop back down so swelling is going down even though I can’t see it in my face yet.

This morning I even got in my Finnish sauna time and figured out that I had it set too low as I almost made it to 20 minutes easily. 🫣 I had changed the temperature down when I was sick last week and forgot to put it back up.

After, I did my intermittent cold shower time and lasted for a collective 2 min, 30 seconds. Hopefully it’ll increase quickly.

No filters. I’m tired. Yet. This is the best I’ve felt in I don’t know how long. I even took the time to put on a scarf and earrings! 😱 Still no makeup, but today was the first day I felt like I was missing it.

My GI upset has stopped for the first time in forever. Apparently it needed an antibiotic reset. I was even able to have potatoes without getting sick the other day!

My hope is that I can rebuild my gut flora stronger this time so I don’t need to go through what I have over this past year again.

After having bronchitis for 2.5 weeks, tonsillitis overlapping for 1 week with a stomach virus in the middle of that, then straight into strep, it’s been a rather interesting month!

While at the Asian grocery store yesterday, I decided to pick up some fresh chili peppers. 🌶️ While making shrimp with udon noodles and veggies last night, I decided I needed to add some to it for extra flavor. 😳

I pulled out six of those little guys thinking they’d be like the jalapeños I get at the regular grocery stores here. 🫣 I would never even remotely consider doing this when in Texas! First, I sliced them in half to take out the seeds to bring down the potential fire. By the time I had the 6th sliced in half, I was having a hard time with a coughing fit, but couldn’t place why. I grabbed a throat lozenge to calm it and it tasted like a Fireball candy, but it still didn’t completely click.

After finishing chopping them up and adding them to the cooking dish, I notice that all of my finger tips are rather numb. I wash my hands to make sure I don’t get it on anything and go about completing dinner.

The shrimp and noodles dish ended up excellent, but definitely needed at MAX 1-2 of those peppers. 🌶️

Later, I had washed my hands a minimal of 4 times at this point. It was time to go to bed which meant it was time to pop out the contacts. 😳 OMG It was like putting hot pokers in my eyes!! 🔥 🔥 because they’re daily wear, I had to get them out.

I ended up soaking my fingers in vinegar and washing them again. That finally made it bearable to get the contacts out. 🫣

Today is a glasses day as I can literally still taste the peppers on my nails and fingers. I’m not taking any chances!

I was finally craving food and my body was saying MEXICAN, but I didn’t feel like making it from scratch so we decided to try Tacos & Tequila.

We both thoroughly enjoyed the surf and turf tacos. The tortillas chips were the real deal, which I’ve missed since Texas.

Robbie did great with the tortilla chips and the churo for dessert. I also agreed to ipad and headphones at dinner for the first time to keep him entertained. Don’t worry, he has 2nd dinner after getting home.

Mexican food is served so differently here in Sweden. Tortilla chips are sold by the bowl so they aren’t unlimited. There are no beans and rice on the side. In fact, fries are a typical side sold with it. 😳 Being originally from San Antonio, this has taken some adjusting to and I liken it to a different style of Mexican food.

Today was an incredibly gorgeous sunny day. We don’t have many of these this time of year so I took advantage of it as much as possible!

I tried out my new weighted hula hoop outside epically failing and excited to see how far I progress over the year. Failure just means room for improvement.

Then I went down into our basement and workout room. Previous to my surgeries, I always enjoyed rowing and specifically purchased a rowing machine for this time of year soon after moving into our house. Since my surgeries, sitting on the seat has been excruciatingly painful so I randomly try it a couple of times a year just hoping that maybe this time I can do it.

While I know I have made progress in my recovery over the past year even though I’m not where I want to be, it always feels like millimeters of progress at best. Then I sat on the rowing machine. This is the first time in over 3 years that I have sat on it and felt no pain. Previous times were me holding back tears it was so painful and I’m not a cryer. I can finally actually row again!

Soon after, it was time to pick up my son from school and I knew we needed to take full advantage of the sun so we went to the beach. Yes, it was cold with it being 5C, but we had a blast playing in the sand and even watched the sun set before driving home. Even this trip was a reminder that I would not have been able to do this on my own a year ago and, while I’m still awkward at it, I can get up and down from the sand so much easier than even last summer.

By this coming summer I plan to be significantly further along on all 3 skills!

Last week I called the surgery department as they hadn’t contacted me about my results of my scans from back in December. 😒 Last round they just randomly called me back so I was surprised today when I checked the mail.

My letter FINALLY arrived!! Zero additional cancer or metastases found and a year free from scans! 💃🏻💃🏻

Happy Chinese New Year to me! 🐇🐇
