CSV Wellness, Grythyttan
Greetings! I’m Chris Vorenkamp, founder of CSV Wellness. I began my journey into healing, well-being, and empowerment after breaking my leg in a football match in 2014. It didn’t feel like it at the time, but this would be a positive and life-changing experience for me. I spent a great deal of my recovery and rehabilitation working with founder of GloMotion, Gudni Gunnarson of Iceland. Through Gudni’s presence, instruction, and training I came into contact with and connection to the web of relationship between spirit, breath, thoughts and emotions (often taking the form of stories we tell ourselves and perspectives we hold), and the body. After feeling the way yoga aided my own recovery and re-evaluation of who I am and what I want to do in the world, I embarked on a journey that continues to unfold before me. I went to Kripalu Center for yoga teacher training to deepen this understanding, and I discovered a level of wholeness and joy that would indicate to me that this would be a path for the rest of my life. ( This path continued in October 2019, learning yoga from the source- Rishikesh, India, at the Vedansha institute, completing a 300 hour yoga teacher training and a 100 hour teacher of pranayama course) A natural next step was the Costa Rica School of Massage Therapy, where I would learn the way massage and other aiding modalities, such as craniosacral therapy, Bowen technique, and Rocktaping could assist people in their own power to experience harmony and healing and abundant energy and joy. I returned to Kripalu twice more to learn from Lee Albert and his techniques, using assisted stretching and strain-counterstrain to bring immediate relief to chronic pain. All these treatments include “homework” and clear instruction for how to correct the causes of pain and extend the benefits of treatment. The basic premise is that the body contains boundless wisdom and power and capacity for self-healing. My work is to connect clients with this universal human ability. Through yoga. Through massage and body work. And through any and every technique I can find! (One of the more powerful techniques I use in my personal life comes from Wym Hoff, the “iceman”.) I am currently embarking on another journey very much aligned with this purpose. I am a coach in training through the Human Potential Institute. One thing that arises quite clearly to any yoga instructor or bodyworker/massage therapist is this: One of the most healing and sought after “treatments” from clients is being heard. Coaching is primarily about this- creating a container in which clients feel safe (all coaching, just like all massage and bodywork, is strictly confidential) and heard. Coaching involves dialogue to get clarity on the client’s challenges, as well as their own resources to meet this challenge, and if requested the coach’s own resources to support the client’s plan to meet those challenges. This is quite different from “mentorship”, as the premise of coaching is that the client has boundless potential to discover their own solution, and the aim of the coach is to connect the client with this power. It’s not a matter of showing up as a student and being told what to do by an expert. It is two peers in dialogue. You will find on this page a menu of services on offer. My intention with this introduction, however, is to provide you with an overview of the purpose and techniques of CSV Wellness so you feel empowered to contact me with any idea for how I may serve your journey to greater health, harmony and well being. Much love! Chris
