The Gift of Being Triggered
This week, I’ve been sitting with the experience of being triggered —
those sharp little moments when something stirs deep inside.
And I keep coming back to this:
The trigger is mine.
It’s a sacred message from my subconscious,
a thread of awareness leading me toward parts of myself
that are ready to be loved,
ready to be freed.
It’s not your fault that I am triggered.
Please, don’t take it personally.
I take ownership of my reaction.
And if, someday, there’s something we need to share or talk about,
I would like to meet you in that space — when you are ready and available.
Triggers are not about blame.
They are invitations.
Moments when old patterns rise up to be seen —
and I have the choice to respond differently.
To speak up.
To ask for what I need.
To tend to the tender places within me,
rather than reenacting old stories.
This week, the gift has been awareness:
Awareness that I have a choice.
Awareness that I can respond in a new way.
Awareness that I am not bound to repeat what I inherited.
Being triggered is not the problem.
It is the doorway.
The moment when the light finds the crack in the wall —
and through that crack, something new can be born.
When was the last time a trigger showed you something sacred about yourself?
I’d love to hear if it touches something in you.
