Happy 100th Birthday, Sir David Attenborough! A century of life, and decades of helping people see the living world more clearly.

I’ve been birding since I was 14, but seeing Attenborough's 1998 documentary "The Life of Birds" as an 18-year-old helped turn a developing interest in nature into something much deeper. His work gave birds a sense of wonder, intelligence, and drama that has stayed with me ever since.

Thank you, Sir David.

We had a record 12 participants at last weekend's Birding Therapy walk in Malmö's Ribersborg. Lot's of nice birds were present at the patch, including a photogenic Shoveler (Skedand) and a Brambling (Bergfink) singing its heart out. The next walk is on the morning of May 10th to Husie Mosse

The local Marsh Harriers (Brun kärrhök) are back 😊 This adult female was out hunting around Husie Mosse.

EN: Today I had the pleasure of taking some of the participants of Lund University’s Sustainability Week on a bilingual birding walk around the Lund Botanical Gardens.

We enjoyed seeing several common garden birds such as Blackbirds and Great T**s, but the clear highlight was spotting a pair of young Tawny Owls perched high up in a pine tree.

Thank you to everyone who joined and shared the experience.

EN: Last weekend 11 of us went on to the Klagshamn Nature Reserve in Malmö. The weather did not agree with us because it was cold and windy. But, the nice company and 42 species of birds warmed us up 🙂 and I think we had a nice time out in nature. Soon after we started our walk from the Klagshamn bus stop, we were treated to brilliant up-close views by a Goldcrest (Kungsfågel). It was a nice way to begin the birding walk! The photo of the Goldcrest in this post is by my colleague Martin Berggren. Check out his nice catalog of wildlife photos on at https://www.instagram.com/martinberggren_natur

EN: A few Black-headed Gulls from Pildammsparken. I often end up photographing common birds when I want to practise, and gulls are never especially cooperative. Still, a walk through a green park in the city, with something to look at and follow, is rarely a bad use of time.

EN: An adult White-tailed Eagle in Malmö. They still surprise people, but they are not as rare here as many seem to think. You do not see them every day, but they are part of the coast if you spend enough time looking.

SV: En vuxen havsörn i Malmö.
