Taiji & Meditation, why they should work together?
Our classes always finish with a guided 15 minutes meditation. There are several reasons to finish a Taiji class with a sitting meditation. The main one is to clearly set up the direction of your effort towards Internal development.
Every Taiji class starts with the 5 loosening exercises, to direct the Mind towards the internal movements and subtle changes inside the body.
During the practice of the Taiji Form, we aim to take one step further and focus the mind into the waves of elastic forces rippling through the body as we move smoothly and continuously.
On the last part of the Taiji training, we practice with a partner to become sensitive to the energising of the nervous system and the light activations that form inside our system to connect into our training partner.
It would be possible to stop the practice there, then all the focus of the training would be on what the ancient Chinese call the Lower Dantian. That is, enhancing the body’s energy level and it’s overall condition.
Nevertheless, we pursue a higher goal, to impulse the inner growth and refinement, and that is mainly done during the practice of the Meditation and the energy transformation behind it, the refining of lead into Gold, the same goal pursued by the ancient alchemist of the past.
That’s why we finish every Taiji class with a short but intensely directed meditation, so the direction of our effort is directed towards the path of Self-development.
