Gianfranco Grompone, BioGaia's Chief Scientific Officer, shares why we should kiss each other more:

"When we kiss each other, we exchange microbes. The more microbes you come in contact with, the better prepared your immune system is to identify which ones are good and which ones you need to get rid of. Kissing is one way to do it. So, we should kiss each other more!" 💏

When were probiotics discovered? 🔍

Probiotics were discovered in 1907 by Russian scientist and Nobel Prize winner, Élie Metchnikoff. Whilst some bacteria had been discovered before this, the idea of 'probiotics' and good bacteria did not exist.

Metchnikoff sought to find out why certain portions of the population lived longer.

He discovered people were drinking a fermented drink. His studies into the drink led him to discover a probiotic called Lactobacillus bulgaricus, which seemingly improved people's health and lifespan.

BioGaia says thank you to Élie for his contribution to probiotic science!

We all know that physical acitivity makes us feel better but what is actually happening on the inside?

Physical activity is important for our general health but it all
comes down to our gut bacteria – our trillions of invisible heroes living inside us. Here are three ways exercise
improves your gut health:

🤸‍♀️ Regulates bowel movements – Yes, moving our bodies
keeps us moving. Physical activity helps keep us regular and cardiovascular workouts, yoga, and weight lifting are all ideal ways to get moving.

🏃‍♀️ Supporting our invisible heroes – Exercise increases the
number of beneficial and enriching microbial diversity.

💛 Boosts the immune system - 80 % of our immune system is located in our gut and that’s why immunty andgut health goes hand in hand: Exercising improves our gut health, which is beneficial for our immune system, which keeps us healthy!
