NO❌ Such a simple word! However, how many of us struggle to use it?
Although we all know that saying “NO” is an important skill for our health and well-being, we still might feel guilty about rejecting people. Let’s look at why saying “NO” shouldn’t scare you by any means.
✨IT SAVES YOUR RESOURCES
Bad news: your time and energy are limited resources, which means you can’t do everything.
Good news: turning some projects down can help you to use your resources wisely and do what you think is best for you.
✨IT KEEPS THE FOCUS
You may find it difficult to say no when you lack self-confidence. You feel that you have to say ‘YES’ to prove to yourself that you CAN. A simple ‘NO’ to a new project or a team meeting helps you focus on one thing at a time, which will provide better time-management, lead to better outcomes and will gradually boost your self-confidence.
✨PREVENTS BURNOUT
No work-life balance? Tons of work and projects that can’t await? It’s true that progress requires a lot of effort but working long hours on a daily basis will lead to no good in the long run.
✨KEEPS YOU IN TUNE WITH YOUR OWN GOALS
Saying ‘YES” can feel good too if it brings you additional money or knowledge. But take some time to ask yourself a couple of questions: Is it what I really want? Does this project make me closer to my goals and dreams? Sometimes answers can give you a lot of valuable insights.
✨IT MAINTAINS HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS.
Sounds like a paradox? In fact, setting your own boundaries and respecting those of other people is the only way to make sure these relationships will last.
