Today, a group of Commissioners and collaborators with the Commission on Peaceful Societies write in to condemn the Russian Government’s aggression against Ukraine and its attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure, including health workers and hospitals.

The comment highlights the catastrophic health impacts of the war in Ukraine, especially on children, older people, and disabled persons through the Russian military’s indiscriminate use of weaponry and targeting of civilian infrastructure which violate international humanitarian law.

The comment also draws attention to how war in Ukraine is a health and humanitarian catastrophe that will have prolonged health consequences far beyond Ukraine’s borders.

𝗡𝗲𝘄 𝘀𝗲𝗺𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗿, 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗵𝗼𝗿𝗶𝘇𝗼𝗻𝘀!

The SIGHT Student Coordinators are excited to kickstart a new academic year for the Student Organziations Network with the announcement of the theme for this year’s Global Health Night: 𝗧𝗲𝗰𝗵 𝗜𝗻𝗻𝗼𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗚𝗹𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵.

With 𝗳𝗼𝘂𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗮𝗻𝗶𝘇𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 across the Swedish global health student sphere this year we are feeling ambitious, and aim to make this a year of improvement for the network. In brief, our goals are as follows:

- 𝘌𝘹𝘱𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘚𝘐𝘎𝘏𝘛 𝘚𝘖𝘕 to foster more interdisciplinary thinking about global health, especially with focus on technology
- Involve student organizations from 𝘵𝘩𝘳𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘚𝘸𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘯 to create a wider, more fruitful student ecosystem
- Retain focus on 𝘴𝘶𝘴𝘵𝘢𝘪𝘯𝘢𝘣𝘪𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 as a central theme of SIGHT
- Continue to organize 𝘩𝘪𝘨𝘩-𝘲𝘶𝘢𝘭𝘪𝘵𝘺 events, seminars and, of course, the Global Health Night

Looking forward to what this year has to bring!
