**Arameans in Medicine at the WCA Conference 25th January 2025**

We were honored to represent Arameans in Medicine at the World Council of Arameans (WCA) Conference, supporting their mission for a peaceful, inclusive, and united Syria. As WCA advocates for the recognition, protection, and empowerment of the Aramean people, we see strong connections between their vision and our own goals to support and serve our people.

At the conference, WCA emphasized:

📜 Constitutional Recognition – Ensuring the Aramean people and the Aramaic language are acknowledged and safeguarded.
🛡️ Protection of Minorities - Securing the rights, safety, and religious freedoms of Syria’s minorities.
🏛️ Inclusive Governance– Promoting equal representation in politics, society, and culture.
🏠 Safe Return & Reconstruction– Supporting displaced Arameans in rebuilding their homes and communities.
🩺 Preserving Aramean Heritage– Protecting cultural sites, language, and traditions, including medical knowledge.
🌍 Diaspora Engagement – Encouraging active contributions from the Aramean diaspora in rebuilding Syria.

Arameans in Medicine's mission aligns closely with these efforts. Through networking for medical professionals, educating our people, preserving Aramean medical heritage, and charity work, we aim to strengthen our community’s well-being and resilience.

We look forward to continued collaboration with WCA and other organizations to safeguard our people, culture, and future. Together, we can make a lasting impact! ⭐️

[REPOST]
We received a very warm welcome at St. Maria Church (St:a Mariakyrkan) in Örebro.
We chose Örebro as our first destination to host an event outside of the capital because it accomodates a large Aramean community and it is also a popular student city in Sweden, where many Arameans study in the Faculty of Medicine and Health at Örebro University.
One of Arameans in Medicine's core values is to promote education and networking within healthcare, and we strive to unite socially and support our people academically.
During our networking event, we served our community by giving free medical advice, held an encouraging activity and collected ideas on how we can use our organisation as a helpful tool for educational and networking purposes.
We are grateful for this visit and we are looking forward to more collaborations!

ARAMIA SAUMA, 29 [REPOST]
•Chairwoman and Founder of AIM
•Medical Doctor, Stockholm
•Roots in Qamishli and Midyat

☆What does my role entail?
My role as the chairwoman is to ensure that AIM's statutes are upheld, ensure the implementation of board decisions, and to serve as the external representative of the organisation. This role involves leading the Board, focusing on strategic matters, monitoring the organisation´s work and progress, and setting performance standards.

☆ What are you most looking forward to achieving with Arameans in Medicine?
To create a safe space for fellowship, education, and growth for professionals, students and for the public community.

☆ Why did you choose to get involved with AIM and why do you think this organisation is important?
I founded this organisation to, with the help of God, extend a helping hand to those in need and through that spread the message of love and health. My goal is to empower my people who are living under rough conditions in the homelands, or are scattered around the world with a language that is dying out. We have a sacred and historical community who have endured so much throughout history, and to say the least, been persecuted and excluded from their own homeland.

AIM is important because it seeks to uplift students, professionals, the general public in the diaspora and in the home lands from a health care perspective.

Public health and personal care are often deprioritized in our community due to the challenges we face as immigrants or minorities, leading to a lower quality of life and difficulties accessing healthcare.

☆Fun fact about myself
I play the violin and I love celebrating and surprising others, whether it's for small or big achievements. Life is meant to be celebrated, and serving others is a joy!

♡ Motto in life
“Whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God” - Corinthians 10:31

☆What are you most looking forward to achieving with AIM?
I aim to help us expand into various cities—across all professional roles, not just in healthcare.

☆What motivated you to get involved with AIM, and in your view, what makes this organisation important?
This organisation shows support for Aramean students as well as healthcare employees. In addition, this organisation represents much more than just healthcare. It is an association that organises activities and various events for our people to socialise and connect.

☆Fun fact about yourself
I love sleeping 😊

CHRISTIAN GABRO, 22
•Board Deputy
•Medical student, Karolinska Insititutet, Stockholm

☆What does my role entail?
A deputy on a board acts as a substitute for a regular member. If a regular board member cannot attend a meeting, the deputy steps in to participate in discussions and decision-making.

☆What are you most looking forward to achieving with AIM?
Connecting with fellow Arameans in healthcare, both students and professionals.

☆What motivated you to get involved with AIM, and in your view, what makes this organisation important?
I wanted to get involved in an organisation for the first time and gain that experience, so I thought: what better organisation than AIM, considering that I am Aramean and studying healthcare?

☆Motto in life
Always strive to become a better version of myself, both personally and professionally.

☆What motivated you to get involved with AIM, and in your view, what makes this organisation important?
I find AIM to be a great community for people, especially people with a similar religious and ethnic background as me, within the medicine field where they can network and share ideas. It is an honour for me to have the opportunity to volunteer in such an organisation because I am able to use my skills for good deeds.
