On June 11th, the second workshop under the framework of the project “Building Networks Promoting Health” was held in Riga, Latvia. The workshop was officially opened by Mr Juris Radzevics, the Chairman of the Social Affairs Committee of the Riga City Council.

The morning programme revolved around each participating city to share their prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation services available as well as existing challenges. The afternoon programme involved a visit to the Resilience Centre, which youth can visit and receive support and guidance through mentorship.

On April 19th, 2024, the Kaunas City Municipal Administration, the Welfare Department of the Riga State City Government, the Tallinn Welfare and Health Care Department, the Kaunas City Municipality Public Health Bureau, and the European Cities Against Drugs gathered in Kaunas, Lithuania to participate in the workshop “Experts in Action”.

The workshop is the first in a series of workshops as part of the project “Building Networks Promoting Health - Developing Substance Use Prevention Awareness Models in the Baltic Cities”, funded by the Swedish Institute. The workshop was dedicated to exchanging experiences, challenges, and methods of prevention as well as brainstorming for a shared prevention method.

On October 12th and 13th, ECAD organised a study visit to Comunità San Patrignano. The programme aimed to provide the possibility for participants to gain knowledge in a holistic approach to rehabilitation and recovery. We were guided around by two residents of SanPatrignano and were able to ask questions throughout the day about their experience in SanPatrignano and learn about their various facilities and departments.

We would like to invite you to join us in San Patrignano - the world's largest rehabilitation centre - for a study visit. It will be a unique opportunity to learn about the successful programme of rehabilitation, including skills training and full social reintegration, as well as their other activities such as prevention.

The participation fee for ECAD members is only 75 EUR. (transportation to Rimini and hotel arrangements are not included in the fee).

Today, the study visit was organised at kommunita Santa Marija, a evidence based best practice rehabilitation centre. They shared their background and methods with us. We would like to thank them for inviting us to their community with open arms and we applaud them for the work they do. Thank you Local Councils' Association Malta for organising the study visit for us.

The first day of the conference has been a day full of interesting presentations, including evidence based research, practices, and tools, while being able to meet with various local councils and ECAD Members. We are grateful for the support and efforts by Local Councils' Association Malta and hope to strengthen our partnership in the following years.
Tomorrow will be another interesting day of the conference, including study visits.
