Tomorrow, we begin our long-awaited annual workshop with Monica Haar, Senior Iyengaryoga Teacher. This is a unique opportunity to learn directly from her, as she was a student of the great BKS Iyengar, master of Yoga. In our practice, we use the Tressler to assist with Utthita Trikonasana, or Extended Triangle Pose. The Tressler helps create a deeper side bend by supporting the body, allowing for greater stability and a fuller opening of the chest. With this support, we can focus on proper alignment and expanding the chest, which enhances the overall benefits of the pose.

Utthita Trikonasana, or Extended Triangle Pose, offers a powerful blend of physical and mental benefits.

It stretches the hamstrings, hips, and shoulders, while strengthening the legs, core, and improving balance.

This pose opens the chest, enhances flexibility, and supports better posture. It can also stimulate digestion and relieve mild back pain.

Asana of the month - Utthita Trikonasana (Extended Triangle pose).

This pose cultivates flexibility, strength, and steadiness in the legs, arms, and spine. In Trikonasana, the arms and legs are extended and dynamic, and the spine lengthens. The chest and torso rotate away from the floor, resisting the effects of gravity on the body.

This week we practice standing poses. Use Triangle pose early in a sequence to warm the muscles and condition the body for later poses. As you become more experienced, different actions in Trikonasana can be emphasised, depending on what poses will follow, later in the sequence.

This pose is a great “all-rounder” for virtually any practice.
