We had a fantastic time and want to thank everyone who joined our Stockholm Cicero Talks. It was great to connect and share insights about Stockholm’s vibrant tech ecosystem.

We discussed the green shift, the future of Stockholm’s startup scene, and practical cybersecurity tips for small businesses. We also explored how creativity is driving sustainable tech innovations and showcased some inspiring DeepTech startups.

Showcasing Stockholm’s commitment to sustainability and its thriving startup ecosystem. Stockholm stands strong as a leader in impact-driven startups, continuously pushing the boundaries of innovation to create a sustainable future. 🌱We had an inspiring day at the Sweden Sustaintech Venture Day yesterday! A huge thank you to Cleantech Scandinavia and Magnus Agerström for hosting. 

The event was filled with captivating startup sessions and showcases of cutting-edge sustainable technology innovations, pushing us closer to a greener future. 🌍 Som examples of this include Novatron Fusion Group AB presentation in advancing the frontiers of clean energy by developing cutting-edge fusion technology to create a sustainable and abundant power source and Ingrid Capacity who leading the charge in Europe’s energy transition by developing large-scale battery energy storage systems to enhance grid flexibility and stability. Another inspiring example is Graphmatech who is revolutionizing material technology with their innovative graphene-based nanocomposites, enhancing sustainability and efficiency in industrial applications.

Stockholm’s strengths in sustainable technology were evident, showcasing why our region remains a hub for innovation and sustainable growth. Continued investment in sustaintech is not only crucial for the environment but also for driving economic growth and positioning Stockholm as a global leader in sustainability.

Framed by the tagline & Beyond, the real estate industry gathered around 40,000 visitors from 75 countries and regions at Real 2024.

👉 This event provided a fantastic opportunity to discuss urban development projects, forge new business relationships, and gauge the current market status within the sector.

🇸🇪 After three fruitful days, it’s clear that there is significant interest in the greater business region and the Swedish market.
🚀 During , we offered a taste of Sweden with chef Edberg, and engaged in discussions on future infrastructure, logistics, urban development, and sustainable growth.

Stockholm was also well-represented at the: 🌱 by Mäntymäki, who discussed Urban Expansion and Renewal of Port Cities with City Council and . 🌱 Krüger from and shared insights on Making Urban Growth Work and the most significant solutions for affordable housing. 🌱 Szczesny shared the latest insights on building a low carbon city, invited by the climate director of the city of , Hanna Wesslin (Kaustia). 🏆 Szczesny also participated as a jury member for the Award2024.

A warm welcome to the Swedish stand at Expo Real 👋

By 2040, EUR 115 billion will be invested in infrastructure and construction in the greater Stockholm region, according to a report commissioned by the City of Stockholm. EUR 59 billion is expected to be invested in housing projects and to keep up the pace of construction, 30 000-40 000 construction workers will be needed in the city of Stockholm alone.

“Happyflation”: Taylor Swift’s Visit Boosts Happiness and Economy in StockholmA new report from the Stockholm School of Economics, in collaboration with Stockholm Business Region, reveals that Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour significantly increased happiness among Stockholmers and had a massive economic impact. The concerts in May 2024 attracted 151,400 unique visitors and generated a tourism economic impact of 848 million SEK.The study, led by Professor , highlights how major events can enhance community well-being and positive behaviors. This phenomenon, termed “Happyflation,” shows how joy and happiness can spread through multiple steps, benefiting even those who didn’t attend the concerts.Stockholm’s ability to host such large-scale events showcases successful collaboration between organizers, businesses, cultural institutions, residents, and the city. The report’s release event at Södra Teatern featured discussions on why Stockholm is attracting more major music events, its international standing, and the impact on citizens.Key takeaways include the importance of creating more happiness and community spirit through well-organized events, which can benefit both major and smaller cities.

The GeoGuessr 2024 World Cup final is currently underway!🏆The GeoGuessr World Cup is the official world cup of the location guessing game Geoguessr. The game uses Google Maps Street View to place players in a random location in the world, and players collect points for guessing their location correctly. Between 11 and 14 September, players from all over the world will compete for the honorable title. The tournament will be played in front of 1,000 guests and around 7 million viewers on Youtube."The whole E-sport aspect of the game is entirely born out of our strong community and nothing we had planned from the beginning" says Daniel Antell, CEO and co-founder of GeoGuessr. The Blue Hall, part of the Stockholm City Hall, will act as the venue for the tournament.
