Do you ever wake up in the morning feeling anxious?

Want to know what I do when I feel anxious?

1. I go outside for some fresh air and go for a short walk, even if it is raining.(I find rain to be quite cleansing for my soul)😇

2. Practice balanced breathing : deep 5 secs inbreath, through the nose. 5 secs out breath through the nose or mouth. (Making sure on the inhale that I push my tummy out.)

3. Practice a self hypnosis technique from Betty Erickson:

Name three things that you can see right now.
Three things that you can hear and
three things that you can feel.

Then name 2 things that you can see, 2 things that you can hear and 2 things that you can feel.
☘️
And then 1 thing that you can see, 1 thing that you can hear and 1 thing that you can feel.
☘️
And breathe. ❤️

4. I then put my hand on my heart and express three things that I am grateful for right now.

Et voilà.

It's OK to feel anxious. Times are weird right now.

I got to be honest with you. Last week I was riddled with the feeling of guilt and shame, not feeling good enough. I felt AWFUL.
😣
I want to lead by example and now more than ever I want to be there for others in these very challenging times.

But I couldn't, because I was faced with a very agressive skin reaction, that left me with little energy and a very low mood.
🌀
I was in physical pain, with my lips cracking every time I opened my mouth. So it was painful to speak.
So I had no choice but to stop and go inward. Reconnect with myself.
🙏
Fast forward to today, 10 days later, I am feeling like myself again, no longer feeling like my body is fighting itself.
❤️
Why am I sharing all of this with you?
🤔
Because maybe you are someone like me who needs to put your own oxygen mask on first, before helping others?
💡
I have yet again learnt the hard way to fill up my own cup first. For empaths who always want to help everyone that doesn't come naturally.
💯👏
And yet, it is SO important.
So if you are reading this, and you tend to be the same... PLEASE put your own oxygen mask on FIRST. And lower your extremely high expectations of yourself. It will help. Trust me.

Be kind to yourself, connect to your breath again. 🌬️
Practice gratitude. And everytime a negative thought comes up replace it with three positive ones.
And do your best to live in the Now and take one day at a time.

Now that I have taken this lesson on board and swallowed it with my whole body intelligence, I feel ready again to be there for the people who need someone to talk to.

Do you also feel like time is a bit blurry right now? 🤔

This is a selfie that I took the night of the rehearsals before my Tedx Talk on the 19th of Feb. And little did I know that a couple of weeks later Covid-19 was going to have such immense impact on us all. 🌍🌎🌏 I don't know about you but since this Monday since BJ has announced the lockdown of the UK I have been on a hectic roller-coaster of emotions. 😭🤔😱🙄☺️😳✨🎢 One minute feeling OK and then the next feeling really really worried. And then feeling OK again etc.

What's going to happen next? How is this going to impact us in the future?
What's important here, the connection with humans. The people around me keep me going, I am so grateful for each and every one of you right now. It has really helped to share the good and the bad. To feel connected. Even just virtually. 💐
In the last few days I have learnt to accept my seat on the roller-coaster 🎢, and that it is OK to feel low and down, anxious and worried one minute and then optimistic the next. This is what makes us human. 👀

Please take care of yourself during this time, do what makes your heart sing. Remember to smile and laugh and to watch a Disney movie if you feel like it.

(Disney + has just been released... Just sayin')

I am preaching to the choir here but ACCEPTING how we feel right now in this present moment, and to tell yourself that it is OK to feel this way, will already make you feel better. Pinky promise. ❤️ And then to take a deep breath in - and to exhale all worry and doubt. And then choose another more resourceful state. ✨
If you feel angry, feel angry, if you feel confused, I will join you.

And please allow yourself to also FEEL LOVE, because it is always there for us to tap into.

Breathe IN the warrior and breathe OUT the worrier.
