🔥 When your mind is exhausted but your body won’t slow down
Burnout isn’t just “feeling tired.” It’s your body stuck in survival mode — long after the stress has passed.

🧠 Cognitively: You know you should rest, but your thoughts keep racing.
💓 Somatically: Your body is still on high alert — tense, restless, or completely shut down.

👉 That’s where somatic CBT comes in.
It’s not only about thinking differently — it’s about feeling differently.
Helping your nervous system remember what safety feels like.

Here are 3 somatic CBT tools to support recovery from burnout:

Orientation – Gently let your eyes move around the room. Notice colors, shapes, and sounds. This signals to your brain: “I’m safe now.”

Somatic pause – Stop for a moment. Feel your feet on the ground, let your shoulders drop, breathe deep into your belly. 30 seconds is enough.

Micro-movements – Roll your shoulders, yawn, stretch. Small movements help your body release stored stress energy.

🌿 Recovery isn’t just about rest — it’s about letting your body know it’s allowed to rest.

🤍Grief Lives in the Body🤍

Grief isn’t just an emotion in the mind — it can live in the nervous system and body, especially when it doesn’t have space to move through.

✨ Signs that grief may be "stuck":

●Feeling heavy, tense, or numb in the body

●Tight chest, shallow breath, or a lump in the throat

●Fatigue, brain fog, or restlessness

●Waves of sadness that feel overwhelming or never-ending

When grief gets “trapped,” it’s often your nervous system holding on to protect you.

The good news: your body also holds the keys to release.

🌬 Somatic Tools for Grief

●Breathwork: Gentle sighs or long exhales to signal safety to your body.

●Movement: Walking, swaying, or stretching to let energy move.

●Touch: Placing a hand on your heart or belly to create grounding.

●Sound: Humming, crying, or even sighing out loud — vibrations help release stuck energy.

●Rest: Allowing stillness, naps, or simply lying down with support.

🩷 Grief isn’t something to “fix.” It’s something to tend to. Let your body guide the way.

✨ Healing Depression Through the Body

Depression doesn’t just live in the mind — it’s also held in the body. Somatic psychotherapy helps us release what gets “stuck” and reconnect with a sense of aliveness. 🌱

Here are a few gentle tools you can try:

💨 Grounded Breathing – Slow, deep breaths with attention on your belly can calm the nervous system.

🧍🏾‍♀️ Body Scanning – Pause and notice areas of tension, heaviness, or numbness. Bring curiosity instead of judgment.

🌳 Grounding Through the Feet – Stand barefoot, press your feet into the ground, and imagine roots connecting you to the earth.

🤲🏽 Self-Touch for Safety – Place your hand on your chest or hug your arms gently. This can signal safety and soothe overwhelm.

🌀 Movement & Shaking – Gentle stretches, shaking out your arms/legs, or swaying can help release stuck energy.

✨ Healing is not linear, and these tools aren’t a replacement for therapy — but they can be powerful companions on the journey.

Rewiring the Mind-Body Connection with Somatic CBT

🌿 Mind + Body = Powerful Healing 🌿

In Somatic Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), we don’t just focus on your thoughts—we listen to your body, too. This combined approach helps you shift both mental and physical patterns that might be holding you back.

✨ How does it work?

🧠 CBT helps you identify and reframe negative thought patterns.
🌀 Somatic Therapy allows you to release stored tension and emotions from your body.

💡 Try this: The next time you feel stressed, take a moment to check in with your body. Where are you holding tension? Practice deep breathing while gently relaxing those areas. Then, ask yourself: What thought is contributing to this tension? Can you challenge or reframe it?

Healing happens on many levels—mind and body working together! 🌱

🌻The body often holds memories, emotions, and tension that the conscious mind has pushed away or forgotten.
By listening inward – to the body’s signals, breath, and feelings – true healing can begin.
