Today the recommendation/goal for having a healthy life/week is:
🔹150 minutes of mid-heavy activity per week.(light sweat)
🔹AND 2-3 workouts (strength building activity)

You still get more benefits if you do more, but studies say that its declining in terms of effectiveness from there.

Every move matters! Possible to take the stairs instead of the elevator? Skip the subway or bus for few days a week or take it half way and walk the rest?

The rotator cuff! What is it?
Supraspinatus, infraspinatus, teres minor and subscapularis is a group of muscles on the scapula (shoulderblade) that work together to stabilize the shoulder joint!

Since we are made to use our arms in all directions and to hang, climb and pick fruit and other things above our heads, the shoulder joint is very unstable. Compared to the hip joint that is allowing less movement but is very stable to handle the power generated by walking and running.

These muscles are weak individually but together as a group helps stabilizing the head of Humerus(the ball) so it stays in a good position in the scapula (the socket)
The supraspinatus, infraspinatus and teres minor helps doing external rotation of the arm while subscapularis does internal rotation!

These muscles is very often a problem area especially for office workers where you type on a keyboard all day (big amount of small rotation) but for many others too!

Another reason they easily get overworked is by having forward hunched shoulder posture(rounded shoulders)
What this does is that the rotator cuff is in a bad position and gets more tired for the same amount of work than if you had them in an optimal position with the shoulders back!
This can also increase the risk of injury when doing heavier lifts.

Studies are showing that Icebathing and cold exposure helps reducing pain and helps against the inflammatory processes in the body. Just by a tiny tiny bit.
▪️
It also works against the muscle response to training and actually make you get less gains in terms of muscle build-up when it wants the inflammatory processes after it got broken down by the workout.
▪️So why am I doing this?!
It makes me happy😁 and it makes me calm!
It makes me have to deal with the sympathetic nervous system response known as "fight or flight" - and turn that panic response into an parasympathetic response "rest and digest"
When I overcome the initial panic and can finally breathe with my nose and take deep calm belly-breaths, instead of breathing fast into my chest - I get the feeling someone is pouring a bucket of stillness and calm over me. (notice in the video how my breath gets calmer and deeper and I start relax)

The first time this year that I swimmed in cold water (and probably 10 degrees warmer water than this) - It took me a whole minute of panic before I could get my shoulders to relax and breathing calmly!

Try it yourself. I recommend trying with finishing your hot shower with the water on the coldest for 30 seconds and take it from there! :)
Its not for everyone but for me it have been a good addition to my life!

Today Coach Max took me for a run! 🐶🏃‍♂️
First run training in years for me and I was chocked I made it through 9.5km!

After having Physiology 3 in school and deep diving in effects on the body of endurance and strength training and getting inspired by .mikael.mattsson I felt hyped to do endurance training for the first time in my life, and today made it even more!
Time to buy a pair of running shoes 😍

Idag var jag på Stockholmsmässan och representerade skolan och pratade om naprapati och skolan.

Var intressant att höra folks åsikter och kunskap om naprapati och insåg att väldigt många ser naprapater som "benknäckare" fortfarande och tror att det är det enda man gör som naprapat!

Träffade även många som varit hos naprapat själva och som visste att det bara är en del av naprapaters stora verktygslåda!

I videon ser ni mig få en manipulation (i folkmun "ben/kotknäckning") Det är inget som knäcks, ledytorna separeras i ett snabbt moment och "knäckljudet" kommer ifrån luftbubblor i ledvätskan.

PS. Vi knäcker inte folk bara sådär, riskfaktorer och så kallade redflags utesluts alltid och en undersökning görs. Jag har alldeles nyss gjort en screening på min nacke i skolan och har inga som helst risker att få något problem av denna behandling!

Hej! Jag är en naprapatstudent och massageterapeut och jag kommer finnas i Svartå IF Klubbstuga 1-3 December (lördag, söndag och måndag)
