Here are some very useful clinical questions to ask your patients. They give you more useful information than just a pain score. Works great for evaluation and not just for back pain.
The questions give you information about the patient's self-efficacy, worry, and pain interference, which are all important factors.
Sometimes, the pain intensity might not change that much, while other things can improve very much. So it's important to not (only) focus on the pain intensity.
Note that for the question about trust, we often need to explain what it means. I usually say that a 10 means that you trust your back fully to be able to do all the things that you're doing in your daily life, without having to worry about that you might injure your back.
