Kylin Therapies

Kylin Therapies Providing the q***r community with holistic methods to manage their mental health issues. A Kylin has both yin and yang qualities.

My Niche

I specialize in teaching the q***r community holistic methods to help manage mental health issues, especially anxiety, bipolar, trauma and substance abuse addictions. Though I still work with people who don't fit in this niche depending on availability. Kylin

A Kylin (alternatively spelled Qilin or Kirin) is one of the four major creatures of the Chinese belief system, along with the Dr

agon, Phoenix and Tortoise. It is mythological and a chimera, a combination of ox, deer and dragon. A Kylin is sometimes called a Chinese Unicorn, though it has two horns. It is gentle (so gentle it prefers to walk on clouds rather than step on grass) yet powerful. It’s appearance is considered auspicious. Signaling either the birth or death of a sage or long ruling emperor. These qualities describe my therapies as well; gentle yet powerful and bring good fortune to everyone involved. Reiki: Reiki is a type of energy healing developed in Japan about 100 years ago. A practitioner channels Universal Life Force Energy through themselves to a recipient. The energy can heal on the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual levels. It works by interacting with the recipient's chakras (energy centers of the body) and aura (energetic field surrounding the body). Common benefits of Reiki are reduced tension in the body, reduced stress & anxiety, helps get better sleep, decreases aches & pains, improves immunity, detoxes the body and accelerates the body's natural healing ability. Reiki has been shown to alleviate the symptoms of many physical and mental health conditions. Reiki can also address the root cause of problems, leading to excellent outcomes. The practice of Reiki incorporates some specialized meditation techniques. Meditation: Meditation is a word from Latin meaning 'to ponder'. It's been practiced for at least 5,000 years. There are many different types. The most common being; Guided, Concentrative, Transcendental, Mindfulness and Zen. Benefits include; decreased heart rate, respiratory rate, blood pressure, oxygen consumption and muscle tension. Now commonly used to treat depression, stress, anxiety, sleep disorders, low self-esteem, addictions, menopause, anger management, weight management and PTSD. Crystals: Every type of crystal has a different crystal structure that can emit unique healing energy. When a crystal is properly cleansed and charged, the healing effect is magnified. There are thousands of natural minerals and most have been evaluated for their healing properties. The use of crystals for healing goes back at least 6,000 years. Acupuncture: Acupuncture has been used for thousands of years to treat many illnesses. It's believed to stimulate the central nervous system leading to biochemical changes that may encourage the body's natural healing abilities and improve physical and emotional well-being. Potential benefits may include (but are not limited to); improved sleep, reduced pain, relaxation, alleviation of anxiety and depression, decreased cravings when attempting to withdraw from addictive substances, improved digestion, improved fertility, reduction of allergy symptoms, increased cognitive clarity, and blood pressure control.

How Kylin Therapies was born

Back in the early 1990s, I had an awakening. I was bombarded with numerous intense dreams. I sought out help and ended up spending a few years learning how to interpret those dreams from a wise woman, Isabel Duffy, in Boulder, Colorado. I decided to change careers, from a Metallurgical Engineer to an Archaeologist. During that time, I traveled to and lived in Glasgow, Scotland and Uppsala, Sweden.

In 2017, I confirmed my inters*x status (my s*x chromosome are not exactly either XX or XY). Then my doctor told me I was pre-diabetic. I decided to begin a cleansing of sorts. Removing habits that no longer served me. I replaced them with what I felt were healthier for me. This included recreational activities as well, such as training in mixed martial arts, tai chi, qi gong and meditation. The studio where I learned emphasized breath and energy work. I also joined a group called The Iron Garden (fosters an awareness of alternative spiritualities among other things). It was through The Iron Garden that I learned of Reiki energy healing. So I found a master (C Lynn Carr, Master Sea) and became certified myself. It has been incredibly useful in my healing journey, so I decided to give back by volunteering Reiki sessions for non-profits such as Buddies of NJ and Noaks Ark.

More recently, I have learned Soul Work from Clive Hetherington. For most people, our souls are fragmented. Some of which are lost and we may have fragments that don’t belong to us. Soul fragments may become earth-bound after a person passes. Using my intuition and archaeological training, I seek out graves that have fragments remaining and attempt to heal them so that they may reintegrate with the rest of the original soul wherever it may be now.

So now I am integrating all these pieces of my life. The Jungian method teaches us to be less perfect, but more whole. Accepting our shadow, balancing our thinking, feeling, intuition and sensation functions, individuating (becoming unique) and becoming consciously related to the collective unconscious. Soul Work is sometimes called ‘Unity Consciousness’. It includes becoming all that we are in unity with the Universe. These two flavor my Reiki practice in a way I feel is distinctive. Instead of just clearing negativity without reflection, I am cautious to make sure not to ‘throw out the baby with the bath water’. Oftentimes, soul fragments are attached to negative energies. There needs to be an awareness and balance in everything.
