On 13 & 14 April, we hosted a Continuous Improvement (CI) training at GVT Singapore, led by Yulan Guo (Group Senior Director, Continuous Improvement, Aalberts) and Wouter Jans (PMI, Operational Excellence & ESG Lead).
Through an engaging step-by-step simulation game, 16 participants were grouped into 4 production lines, each role-playing different functions across production and assembly. This hands-on approach brought the entire value stream to life - from running a โcompanyโ end-to-end to understanding how each function contributes to overall operational performance.
The exercise also introduced Value Stream Mapping (VSM), a lean management tool used to analyze, design, and manage the flow of materials and information required to bring a product or service to the customer. This helped participants better visualize processes, identify inefficiencies, and understand how waste can be reduced across the value chain.
Overall, the training highlighted the importance of streamlining processes, eliminating waste, and focusing on value-added activities.
A great example of how learning through play can drive deeper understanding and practical insights into Continuous Improvement principles.
